No because each religion has different sects and some sects are so close to other religions. Each religion has good followers and bad followers and those who misinterpret meanings and act falsly. There are very good friends of close thinking and different religions.
Hope that's enough to answer your question.

Religion is mans interpetation of faith.
I go to church to worship God and hear an interpetation of the Bible.
I go to any church that I feel I am open to worship God.
What ever I am told about the Word of God I research myself and draw my conclusions.
If a minister sees a passage the way I believe it is meant to be. I will listen again. Check again.
Religion has been used as tool against man by man for centuries. I search in study and much prayer to understand as God intends his word for me.
When in another town the church affiliation may let me know how close to my own beliefs the service will be.

I think religion has the social function of keeping individuals within a social framework, and by that they are an important asset of primitive cultures.

Thats not true because as soon as a person is born he/she automatically get attached to a religion . Thats a stage when that person doesn't even know anything close to mind, thinking or even himself . Its just that a person gets in the basket in which his parents are .

Coming from an anthro person, yes. It also served in the past for keeping everyone on the same track for survival purposes, but today it's more along the lines of what you're talking about.

I would say not.....
Because not all attend....
Those who do attend, are those who like associating with like minded individuals....
Consider the Pep Club, or the Grand Lodge, or the Klu Klux Klan, or a cheerleading squad, the Pittsburgh Steelers.......
Those are like minded invididuals.... they associate because they understand each other...... Like minds and like characters....
If the people did not attend, there would be no group.... it's all about the people.....

Not sure about your use of the word natural. I don't think that people who've never heard of religion would naturally acquire it.
