Absolutely impractical and it is not advisable for a serious relations. For fun, it is OK.

BOTH.
My fiance and I met via internet dating.
We lived on opposite sides of the city, would never have met otherwise. Both work long hours in great jobs, however with the great job comes a difficulty in getting out to meet new people.

Internet dating is great for that reason, it canbe hard to get out and meet new people. It can be hard for singles who have married friends to socialise with (not often to meet new people).

I can honestly say though that in the time I was internet dating I certainly did meet some VERY desperate freaks and weirdos.

Just be careful if it is you doing the internet dating thing. But do have fun!!

for me it is piratical

I am a single mum of 2 children and i do not get to go out that much on a weekly basis,
The places that i tend to go out with friends i.e to bars or clubs is not really a good place to meet people as often in clubs and bars only really mean one thing.
i feel that the Internet dating services only offer you the introduction the rest is totally up to you on how the relationship works or not, the same if you meet someone in a club or bar or even the supermarket.
I joined a dating Internet site last year and i met my ex boyfriend. We was happy together for 5 months before we split up.
I have recently joined another one and i have met my currant boyfriend.
We have both said that we just see it as away of meeting people.
I have also made some good friends and we all often meet up about once a month for a bottle of wine and we all sit and put the world to right,
As i say the Internet is just there to help you to meet people its totally up to you what you make off that experience.

It used to have a desperate image about it but things have moved on, dating agencies in general are falling over themselves with customers, the local papers have full pages of personals, etc.

As more people spend time online it's becoming more acceptable, the stigma has gone and to be honest, you only need to have a look at the extremely fit girls advertising on them to realise that only a fool wouldn't look there.

You could also include chat sites which millions use and throw others such as faceparty and myspace into the mix, aren't they just a form of dating service seeing as just about everyone on there is meeting up?

Like it or not, it is going to be one of the easiest way to meet new people.

Just seems to be the modern way of dating. Dont think its really seen as desperate anymore as so many people are doing it. Not really sure what i personally think of it, if it can work for some then i guess its worth a try

You will have to endure a lot of annyoing persons to get to the real one. You can't evaluate that visually and in no-time like in a club so you have to either believe them blindfoldedly (bad idea) or take the time to get known to them better (not good either). But if you are reluctant about your prvate deatils such as address and phone number it's much easier to get outta odd communications than in a club. You just have to push the button to skip them.

It could be either i guess. depends on who you are. i have met some real hotties by going online. Its a lot easier than hanging out in bars hoping to meet the right person. You can cut through a lot of the prelminary BS and narrow down your search this way.

Its as desperate as all the people on the club/bar scene who hook up on a night out. Its just another way to meet people. You're just as likely to meet a bunny boiling nutter in a club as you are online.

it's hard theese days to meet singles and the bar scene gets old after a while, I'm new to the whole dating scene again but i've considered internet dating to see how it'd work out
