I'm taking some college courses in the US and there is a nice, cute Indian girl in one of my classes. I was thinking of asking her out to dinner, but I'm not sure how common it is for Indian women to date white men. I appreciate other cultures and am open to dating people of other races, cultures, and beliefs. Any advice?

The majority of Indian ladies will choose Indian men to go out with - as they don't want to risk upsetting their families. Indian girls in general have very strong ties to their families and will rarely go against them unless they are madly in love.
Of course there are Indian girls who are attracted to white guys and who go out with them too but if they come from a conservative family there could be trouble. Another thing is that many Indian girls are reluctant to have sex before they are married - something which is quite common in western societies. A friend of mine who is going out with a white boy has this problem - they are in love and he wants sex but she refuses to have sex until they are married - he accepts this because he loves her but he finds it difficult to appreciate just why she won't sleep with a guy she is in love with.
You'll have to uderstand that just because she is willing to go out with a white guy doesn't mean she will give up all her cultural values and the things that are important to her.
The more liberated Indian girls will go out with white men although most will face opposition from their families for dating outside of their race / religion. Some will marry despite the opposition though - my aunts did (the family refused to attend their weddings) - they have been happily married to their white husbands for over 20 years and I have gorgeous anglo-indian cousins. Incidently - my aunts have remained devout Hindus all their lives and their children are also Hindus (just to emphasise the strong cultural / religious ties).
Today we're all one big happy family :)

Totally go for it! I have dated around, and I am sure she would be cool with it if you keep an open mind. I dated a girl from Thailand and her parents thought of it as an honor for her to date an American White Boy, and they were even proud of it. The main thing is...stay open to their culture, and you are all good. You sound like an open guy, so ask her to hang out. It's basically like asking any girl out, but it's more difficult to find something in common with her.

Do you mean aboriginal or Asian decent? I know that most of the Asian or East Indian girls I know, say they will only date indian men due to pressures from their families to stay within their own. However, most of the same girls I find are very westernized and will see a white guy too. Take a chance....

I am an Indian living in India. I am given to understand that Indian girls growing in the Western liberal culture are enjoying their freedom and they tend to go in for inter-culture marriages rather than Indian boys living abroad. May be the girl will be willing to respond to positively. But, they will not easily be willing for sex before marriage.

if her family has a strict Indian culture (and a lot do), she will be in big trouble if she goes out with you. She may be removed from college or even sent back to India. be very cautious for her sake.

Few indian girls belief is that "the indian men are true and confident to beleive than the white men and the white men are not true in relationships"[Do not mistake me i said this bcoz one of my friend is like that she is in Cannada]But i don't beleive it cheating guys always cheat and there is no need of Nations to be true.

Indian girls are no different. Only difference is in timidity. But certainly you should ask her. Indian girls are not biased towards white men. You can take your chances.

im with you on that one, im in kuwait right now and work with an indian company there is a hot secratary that works here but i dont know if she would go on a date with an american i think she has some interests but im not sure thanks for posting this question so i didnt have to

They can prefer white men just like anoyone else... Its nature to like something a little different sometimes
