Not in the sense that the babies have sinned; but because there is sin in the world.
The Bible tells us that God cursed the earth because of Adam’s transgression. Disease and death are a result of that curse. Sin and suffering cannot be separated. The Scriptures inform us that we live in a fallen creation. In the beginning, God created man perfect, and he lived in a perfect world without suffering. It was heaven on earth. When sin came into the world, death and misery came with it. Those who understand the message of Holy Scripture eagerly await a new heaven and a new earth "wherein dwells righteous-ness." In that coming Kingdom there will be no more pain, suffering, disease, or death. We are told that no eye has ever seen, nor has any ear heard, neither has any man’s mind ever imagined the wonderful things that God has in store for those who love Him (1 Corinthians 2:9).

I fear not to be named by man as hypocrite or anything else, so I just keep on contributing some responsible opinions.
People in the past did not understand the mercy of God, so they imagined such unreasonable reason as punishment for sin.
Now, we understand more clearly that deformities and sicknesses are not punishment, but only merciful education. Disadvantaged people are gaining greater success and glory than the advantaged ones who conduct an ignorant living.
The way to true understanding is education, cooperation, charity and not imitation or repetation of superstitious beliefs and traditions.

Deformities occur due to mutations in the DNA. Notice that plants and animals can also suffer with mutations and deformities.
Sometimes beneficial mutations do occur and are passed on to the future generations.
Hypothetically speaking, God will probably not interfere with the natural progression events but sometimes may tweak and the system.

i'm not a creationist. i don't think any of them have something to do with 'sin.' it really is how we deal with each and every difficulty in existence it really is necessary. can we enable the situations take us over or can we triumph over them and make the suitable out of them? :) i have not in any respect considered a small toddler or baby with those deformities that did not have a grin on their faces, or that did not embody existence with what they were given. they are pleasing instructors for humanity and likely stepped ahead souls.

Jesus answers this question directly in one of the most compassionate teachings every taught! From John 9:
As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?"
"Neither this man nor his parents sinned," said Jesus, "but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life. As long as it is day, we must do the work of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world."
The answer is that every man and child, despite having what we may call imperfections, is loved by God in entirety for what he is, a beautiful creation in whom that love can be made manifest to the world.

NO! 100% Absolutely Not! There are many causes for babies being born with serious illness and deformities but sin, (IE God) is NEVER the cause and anyone who thinks it IS, is an outright fool!

Babies born with deformities happen because of how the mother carried the baby. Like what she did when she was pregnant... The food she ate when she was pregnant... Did the mother smoke? Did the mother take alcohol? Drugs? God has simply nothing to do with it.

No my friend. It can sometimes be, but this was addressed by one of the disciples in the Bible who asked that of Jesus who said no. I dont have time to look it up right now, but it is there.
Remember, the Lord says in His Word too: "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge". I hate to say this, but many Christians do not know the Word of God, so please check it out yourself to get the truth. You will always have discrepencies as far as people are concerned, but Gods Word remains the same.
Be blessed.

Just blunders and slip-ups with human errors in not following our creator's universal gifts of life vital for our survival in planet of apes.
Science and mathematics could not trace or solve those problems on what went wrong out there.
All things in life come from mastering our creator's universal gifts of life on planet earth.
Living human kind at loss with our creator's universal gifts of life is making a mess of themselves vital for their own survival on planet earth.
So take a peek in the so-called The holy bible and have a look on what the book is trying to tell you.
The easy way in is to read the five books of Moses and Luke.
The rest not necessary just upgraded version.
Try to understand what it's trying to tell you.

Ah I remember you.
Any Babies born with Deformities asked to be born that way . before they incarnated into this physical universe. As a part of their lessons that they need to learn the hard way. And to teach others that even if you are not the same as others you asked to be born the way you are under the circumstances that you need to learn your own lessons.
