Check tires often. Keep air filter in new condition. Slower speeds save fuel. Like try 55mph instead of 65mph. It does work I do it all the time. Anticipate hills and speed up before you get there then ease off the gas as you climb it. Accelerate as slowly as you can, being aware of other drivers of course. If nobody is behind me I build up speed slowly. I can get my truck to go 145 miles on about 1/4 tank through the hilly NE. If I go faster and don't try to conserve I burn over 1/2 tank. Same distance. There's no way cruise control is more intelligent than I!

drive at a constant speed where possible, stay within speed limits because efficiency goes down and mpg goes up at over highway speeds, don't accelerate hard or brake sharply, anticipate other traffic's speeds, and if you're stopped in traffic for over 20 seconds, switch off the engine.dejunk the car-travel light.check your tyre pressures weekly.
