South Korea
United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories
Vietnam

Those born in any territory that has sent more than 50,000 immigrants to the US in the previous 5 years are ineligible to receive a diversity visa.


So to answer your question yes, the green card lottery is in fact real. I know a few people from Germany who actually got the green card like that and they still live in the United States

It is a real thing if you mean existence. it is not run by the US govenment but individuals who want to enrich themselves. they are qualified immigration lawyers who assist you process your documents once you pay them money. the rate of success is low for the applicants. who knows you might be the lucky guy if you try. the US govt has rules concerning its visas. these guys eploit these weaknesses in the immigration laws to achieve what they want for the applicants. If you are skilled labour why waste your time applying to these guys. if you are a rich guy america wants business men to pump money in US.
