This is forbidden in Islam because all witches/witch doctors e.c.t use jinns(beings made out of smokeless fire that can see us but we cant see them) to help them with their magic with the conditions of them worshipping the jinn, like human sacrifice or relying on them for things you want to happen for you.(Lucky charms e.c.t.) When only Allah is the one who controls everything! so for a Muslim, doing this would mean he doubts Allah's abilities and this would take him out of Islam and this would also be called shirk(joining partners with Allah) the only sin Allah will never forgive unless you were ignorant realised your mistake then made sincere repentance. If your thinking of witch craft please stay far away from it. p.s. if u want more info on Islam visit www.share Islam.com then go to Islam videos hope this helps. peace. :)

I heard many stories, really scary o____O

[2:102] They pursued what the devils taught concerning Solomon's kingdom. Solomon, however, was not a disbeliever, but the devils were disbelievers. They taught the people sorcery, and that which was sent down through the two angels of Babel, Haroot and Maroot. These two did not divulge such knowledge without pointing out: "This is a test. You shall not abuse such knowledge." But the people used it in such evil schemes as the breaking up of marriages. They can never harm anyone against the will of GOD. They thus learn what hurts them, not what benefits them, and they know full well that whoever practices witchcraft will have no share in the Hereafter. Miserable indeed is what they sell their souls for, if they only knew.

Islam accepts that witchcraft does exist. Certain chapters of the Holy Qur'an (namely the last two) were revealed in part to break spells that were cast on the Holy Prophet by a witch and warlock.

However, Islam does not encourage witchcraft.

No witch is mentioned in the holy Qur'an. Magic(witchcraft) is mentioned, denounced, and there are instructions to break the spell, if any. The Jinn (genie) are mentioned with many references; but that is not the Asker's query.

The use of "magic" is not allowed.

This is given in the story of Moses and his brother against the pharoh of egypt and his magicians:
Yunus سورة يونس Sura #10
74 Then, after him, We sent messengers unto their folk, and they brought them clear proofs. But they were not ready to believe in that which they before denied. Thus print We on the hearts of the transgressors.
75 Then, after them, We sent Moses and Aaron unto Pharaoh and his chiefs with Our revelations, but they were arrogant and were a guilty folk.
76 And when the Truth from Our presence came unto them, they said: Lo! this is mere magic.
77 Moses said: Speak ye (so) of the Truth when it hath come unto you? Is this magic? Now magicians thrive not.
78 They said: Hast thou come unto us to pervert us from that (faith) in which we found our fathers, and that you two may own the place of greatness in the land? We will not believe you two.
79 And Pharaoh said: Bring every cunning wizard unto me.
80 And when the wizards came, Moses said unto them: Cast your cast!
81 And when they had cast, Moses said: That which ye have brought is magic. Lo! Allah will make it vain. Lo! Allah upholdeth not the work of mischief-makers.
82 And Allah will vindicate the Truth by His words, however much the guilty be averse.

From what I understand in Islam the ladies have restricted rights of access to the place of worship. Making them self contained religious icons such as witches seems to be a bit of a seed change in the methodology of repression, does it not?
In my experience fundamentalism like that does not change overnight.
