When it comes to matters of faith, and when it comes to things that cannot be proven (or cannot be proven unless you had said faith)...unless you have had personal experience, isn't it all just taking someone's word for it?

Agree or disagree? Why?

Also, please read the details carefully. "Disagree because I have had personal experience" does not apply here, because that's already counted differently.

truth_hurts: But again you're taking their word for it that you'll be paid. This also is a kind of faith.

Yes, if you have not had a personal experience with God, then faith is taking someone's word for it.

You may wish to take God's Word for it if you find yourself in this quandary.

That is, God himself walked on the earth beginning 2,006 years ago. His name was Jesus of Nazareth. If you need to take somebody's word for anything, take his.

His being the only one that matters anyway.

And if you come to know him by reading about his life in the Bible, you very well could be given the gift of personal experience with God.

I have practiced religion, agnosticism, atheism, and now spiritualism. My opinion is that all are free to decide for themselves what they wish to believe. What some people at the fringes of all types of beliefs must be aware of is that if faith is proof, it would be spelled p-r-o-o-f and the other way as well.

At this point in my life, I can easily place things at the feet of spirituality and other things as scientific except when it comes to describing my Higher Power. I feel that why should I be able to perceive that which is imperceptible.

disagree, most things need faith, if you photograph a wedding and wait to be paid then it is faith that you need, the customer may or matnot pay.

having faith in the bible is not unfounded, many accounts in the bible have now been proved to be historical events and continue to be.

I, and ALL born again Christians, will tell you that we have a very personal relationship with Jesus Christ and from this, we KNOW, without a doubt, that HE is real and the Truth. So no, I did not take anyone's word for it, because I know God.

Look at the progression. First comes hope, then comes faith, then comes knowing.
