As long as you file the correct court papers you can change your name to nearly anything you want, and so can he. Congratulations on your upcoming marriage!

As far as I know, he will have to get a legal name change, but it can be done. It is not as easy as it is for a woman to take her husbands name. I think he has an excellent idea. I would go ahead and do whatever has to be done. You can even do it before the wedding if you want to. It may be easier, that way you are not trying to plan a wedding and do the legal work at the same time.

It can be done... but not the same as when a woman marries and takes on her husbands name. If you want to keep your name, then you should try a hyphenated name. Whether you want his first or last is your choice. On the other hand, for him to take on your name, he would have to petition the court for a name change. No reason to spend a lot of money on a lawyer, you can do this yourself. Just call your local courthouse and they can direct you there..
good luck and happy marriage..

You'll have to call your local clerk of the court or check it out online for your county. However, for most places, when you get married, you get a free name change. It doesn't matter if you are male or female. I remember because the guy at the clerk's office told me when I married that my ex-husband ought to change his name to mine since it was free either way.

Depends on the law where you marry. Here in Ont Canada you can take his last name or he can take yours or you can hyphenate them or you can both take an entirely new surname. Marriage is one of the few times you can easily and legally change your name.

He'll have to file and pay for a name change. It's not like when a woman gets married and changes her name.

It is pure preference on who takes which name. A Man changing his name must go thru the same steps as if the woman changes her name.

Yes, it is legal for a husband to take his wife's last name.
It is unuaual only because of society's beliefs, but it is definitely legal.
