At cafes, the hams in the sandwiches usually tend to be serve cold right? But when I buy from the supermarkets...the packaging always advises consumers to cook the ham thoroughly. So what is the best way to cook it to make a sandwich...like they do in shops?Any ideas...thanks.

You said sliced, so the 'cooking' method is limited. Put it in a foil boat, pulled up on the sides, leaving only the crest exposed. Mix 2Tblspn yellow mustard(French's), 3/4 cup brown sugar, juice from a can of sliced pineapple, and 1 level tspn of ground cloves. Pour/spread this mixture on top of ham. Place pineapple on top. Bake until HOT. Baking times will vary according to size and temp(try 350). You'll know by the aroma that this will taste delicious!!!!!!!!!!!

Then RELAX and ENJOY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just bake the whole thing first with maybe a bit of honey coated on the outside. Then use it hot or cold for sandwiches as you wish, or top a salad with it...serve slices with your favorite veggies etc.. bon apetit

You can bake it with pineapple and cherries or slice it and pan fry it. They make great ham sandwiches without cooking it. Add lettuce, tomato, mayo, or whatever, and a slice of cheese. Okay what stores are open this time of morning???????
