Yes, I would, but I'm sure the children would be disappointed. I keep a can of pennies large enough for a little hand to reach in. When trick-or-treaters come to my door, I invite them to take as many pennies as they can grab in one hand. They seem to enjoy this. You can also find little "party treat" toys or give them dried fruit (raisins or banana chips are usually appreciated) or packs of crackers, or whatever. You don't have to give them sugar and get them all hyped up and full of cavities.

Ahh guy, we won't be able to say both??? How come??? Haha, i'd say i'd donate money to an animal charity because a charity for us people has adequate money to furnish for most. i imagine animal charities are ones that want more effective help.

Yes it's a good idea. But i don't think we should take away the only day children get to have fun. I get that giving to charity is good, but we can't forget our own kids... Let them have fun an least once a year.

Yes!
My favorite charity is the Salvation Army.
They have the lowest overhead per charity that I've found.
It's religious, yes, but they return more to the community than any other group that I've audited.
And my wife bought candy and will hand it out.

Nice thought in principle, but not giving candy on Halloween would be like taking one bucket of water out of the ocean while trying to create a desert. Everyone else does it, so why be the one who gets an egg tossed on your house?

I think it's all a bit of fun. However, I am VERY conscious of the media stirring things up again. It looks like the old "No news sells like bad news" adage all over again. I no longer think that the national news represents the national picture. It is all hype to grab ratings. Even the BBC.

If you're talking about Halloween....it's just once a year. Whether or not their teeth are ruined will depend on what they eat for the other 364 days of the year. i.e. It's down to their parents!
I do both.

I donate to UNICEF and contribute to rotting teeth every Halloween. It's the one day of the year when kids are supposed to eat sweets, kids need to be kids before they grow up and forget what it was like to be... well kids.

No, I would rather see children having fun on a night of masquerading and revelry. C'mon Mr. Wilson, loosen up a little.
