I am a 21 year old male, and was told that I had small varicocele. I believe that it is causing this awkward pain that I have been sticking out for the last 6 months. My urologist said its a common thing, and he said it was my choice to have the surgery done. The pain I am feeling is awkward and hurts especially after masturbating, sorry if I am grossing anyone out..anyway I am in the military and get deployed for 3 months at a time..what do you guys think I should do? am I making a good decision to get the surgery? or is not worth the risk? thanks in advance..Mike

hey mike, when I was in surgery training in med school, about 6-8 years ago, I remember reading a figure of about 1% risk of infertility with untreated vericocoeles, it wasn't something as solid as benifits of an aspirin a day though, I would recommend to get it fixed and get done with it, its a minor surgery, just pray that they don't say "oops" while doing the procedure! good luck
