My boyfriend told me that in Islam, homosexuality is an act of satan and is punishable by death. He is going to convert to Islam and I cry myself to sleep and hold my cat every night thinking about him. I love him so much but it seems he is going to convert and abandon me and christianity.

I think you have mistaken Christianity for being more promiscuous. Christianity is equally forbidding homosexuality as Islam is. You get the impression that it is permissible in Christianity because in the west where that is the religion most followed, homosexual is practiced more and the culture there is more promiscuous. In the East, where the Christians are more prudish, they have more commitment in their marital relations with opposite sexual partners.

I don't think either Christianity or Islam approve of or condone homosexuality. However, perhaps Christians are more understanding or (to use that hated word) 'tolerant' because in the New Testament of the Bible Jesus disapproved of the practice of stoning people to death. Jesus said to the self righteous men who were stoning an adulteress "let he who has no sin cast the first stone'. In doing so Jesus was not condoning adultery as he then said to the woman 'Go and sin no more'.

Jesus also said - " You have heard - an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth but I say to you - if someone slaps you on your left cheek, turn to him your right'.

Jesus acknowledged that we all have failings - it would be hypocritical to point out a speck in your brother's eye and ignore the log in your own (paraphrased!).

Perhaps this is why Christians/ Christianity seem more loving and understanding. That said I have met some fundamentalist Christians who obviously haven't read the verse in the Bible that says 'Don't judge - lest ye be judged!'

Christianity is not loving and understanding towards Homosexuals, it is the christens who are trying to understand it, ask any church or go and find old holy bibles and read the whole thing, Christianity, Judaism and Islam are from the same roots and they all worship the same God, so their can't be any difference when it comes to laws of living and behaving for common human beings, christens are trying to bend the roles a little bit at a time so finally there are no roles left and whole world would be eaten by horrific diseases like AIDS and even worse to comes, so please research a bit more, k, so tomorrow morning when you wake up go and talk to a priest about two man having sex and ask him what dose God has to say about this act and if this act is any of the so called Muslim Satan, or the act of Christian’s devil, and see what he has to say, and yeah make sure he is clean and he hasn’t done quite a bit of that act him self when he was young, good luck,,

Then it should be noted that your boyfriend never bothered to read the Qur'an, since there's no such law in the Qur'an.

It should be noted that it's impossible to abandon Christianity and one's friend just because one convert to Islam, since it's mostly the same.

If one need to find out regarding the topic of Homosexuals, then read the Loth stories. It should be noted that they were destroyed not because they are homosexuals, but because they're a bunch of jerks.

Partly, your Q does not belong here,, but anyway - in short :
1). Islam is more comprehensive, and unaltered in its advocacy. On ther other hand, Christianity is not direct, coz it got changed (Bible) over the years.
2). As a consequence of above, people in Islam cannot fool around, as long as they are Muslim. Christianity is more tolerant coz of the vague ness.
3) A reality of today is that Christian world is more affluent, and have their priority on worldly wealth and power; while Islamic world people are backward (comparatively), and have their edge through priority in religion. IF I EXPAND ON THIS, IT WILL GET "BIGETT" and won't stay short - as i Pre Stated above.

Bottom line is : All religions condemn wrong doings (Ideally). Only the Application differs - as explained above.

It is true that Islam speaks against Homosexual relationship, but I have seen most of the Muslims who are homo and they were filled with joy, when government passed the law of Homosexual marriage.........Islam say something and does something else.......
so I think Christianity is better at least it accepts the truth.

Is it?

Are you sure?

I'm sure the thought of loosing your man to Islam is very distressing, but last time I checked Christianity wasn't saying very nice things about homosexuals either....

'some religions are more flexible than others,,Christianity seems to keep up with the jones's of its day and as most of the western world is forgiving,(for want of a better word) or homosexual behavior, others are not and that may never change,,he is gay but chooses to go underground with this revelation to save his own skin basically,,he can lie to man but he cant lie to god and if his religion is that important to him why is he abandoning who he is?

Because it is for real, and God loves all human beings, he created them, he just hates their sin, but still loves them because his love is infinite and never ending. Islam has some really serious issues, and it's not about love, like Christianity.
