Definitely not Vancouver or Whistler despite the fact that both are filled with Aussies doing the same thing as you. Not sure but you could always try the east coast and head for Halifax. Its cheap and its fun. Not sure about saving money since you might not make much there either but at least you won't be living 9 people to a room to try and make ends meet on the west coast.

Seems like Ontario would be the best place.
There are jobs in that area you're looking at and the further you go away from Toronto the cost of living is lower too.
I would suggest doing a search for jobs on line. http://jobbank.gc.ca/Search_en.aspx
Try province by province, area by area or city by city and check out real estate sites too to see how much houses are going for or maybe rentals (not sure if there are sites on that). Could buy a cheaper two bedroom home (depending how long you'd like to stay) turn around and sell it instead of making a landlord wealthier.
Good luck and I hope you find a nice, entertaining place.

British Columbia and Alberta are the best places now with the job booms there, but their cost of living is really high. Same with Ontario and Quebec (Quebec is nice though). Come to the Atlantic provinces, we have lots of jobs considering most of our people are now out on the west coast on the oil rigs, etc.

COme to good old former Berlin, now known as Kitchener.
Apply at any job agency here and you'll get a job within a week. :)
If you want a city with great sites and modernly hightech, goto missisauga. THat city is architecturally amazing, buildings just blinds my eyes and is a pleasure to look at.
