about six months ago, my eleven year old collie greyhound mix, got terribly sick, she was throwing up everything she ate, I took her to the vet, and they told me that the stem that was left over from her uterus (she was fixed) had become infected, and had to be treated with anibiodics over next couple of months, because she kept getting the infection back, and she was loosing wieght rapidly, because of her breed there wasn't alot to her any way. The last dose of antibiotics was 4 months ago, and the infection hasn't come back, thank god. But the problem is, we keep food out for her all the time and my kids are constantly feeding her from their plates and in the last three months is fatter than I have ever seen her, and I was wondering if it was dangerous for her to gain that much weight that fast. She looks great, and healthy and happy....like a puppy. I am just worried about what the extra fast wieght is doing to her heart and bones. Is this dangerous?

the fast weight gain won't do her harm, however obesity is dangerous..so, just keep a watch on her, and if she is perfect now, don't allow her to gain more..exercise is far better then decreasing the food intake..

No that's nothing to worry about. However, do watch her weight and ask your children to stop feeding her table scraps as they will not provide enough nutrition for her at this age.

You shouldn't let her keep gaining weight, just keep her at a normal healthy weight. Obesity in dogs is common and just like with humans, is easy to get obese.
