than have to take their opinions, thoughts and feelings seriously? Is it a way to dismiss valid thoughts and ideas that you do not agree with just by saying that the people are misguided, being confused by the devil, etcetera?

Isn't this how you deal with thoughts and ideas that are threatening to what you believe, and you know your faith is not strong enough to combat these ideas?

These types of questions are entirely too broad. This question assumes that all Christians tell people that they are going to hell. I am a Christian and I can't remember ever telling anyone that I was witnessing to that they are going to hell. We have a church here in the town I live in. They really have great intentions, but every year they have a play called "Heavens Gates, Hells fire." It is set up in tents and the participants go throught the tents and witness different skits all portraying some sort of death. Some of the people go to heaven and some go to hell. I think that several of the local kids get scared into being saved. I think this is absolutely ridiculous, if all you want to do is "buy fire insurance", then you are not truly saved. God holds us just as responsible for the souls we lead away from him as the ones we lead to him. Telling someone that they are going to hell and jumping up and down waving a Bible in their face is NOT the way to tell people of the love and sacrifice Christ made for us on the cross. Jesus never set out to dehumanize any one that he talked to. For Christains to do so is simply wrong.

Anything that an unbeliever says on here is dehumanizing and is misguided because they can't seem to ask or answer questions without spewing hateful insults and racist dogma about Christianity. IMO, the fact that unbelievers come to this section is a Joke to me and I cannot take them seriously when they won't let me. My faith gets stronger. I cannot be threaten by nonsense of unbelieving sinners nor by their baiting, mocking, and weak arguments. I'm not here for them but for those who are truly seeking.

Shalom

Anyone who would dehumanize another person is not a Christian by definition. A real Christian knows that everyone is a child of God, and a brother or sister. As a Christian who takes her religion very seriously, I am at least as unhappy about these people as you are. They give us all a bad name. Jesus said that others would know we are Christians by our love. You would be attracted to a real Christian, because of their loving inclusiveness, compassion for everyone, and alruism. You are right in saying that these people are insecure in their faith, and probably not very knowlegeable either.

That's pretty insightful, and probably true to a large extent. Not just of Christians, though, but of every other group that dehumanizes another in order not to deal with them as people.

Some Christians do that because they do not know better and doing it in the way of the world. Christians ought to share their faith out of love for the other person and putting them down is out of character. God love us all while we are yet sinners. Therefore we should demonstrate God's love to others by sharing the gospel in love. There is no way to win people over to your cause by insulting them. Christians please take note.

No absolutely not but the truth must be known for your thoughts and opinions are the least of my problems. Come on, i got no one hunting me down for my beliefs and no bullets inches from my head, this is a vacation for a soldier. And you think an athiest's thoughts or opinions are going to effect me, a soldier made for the trench? Something as simple as words going to stop me, i battle demons and temptations which are still simple, I am not in Iraq inches from death, that is why i know i have no right to complain or consider these things threats. i sleep in a room with a roof over my head and good food to eat, man i live with momma and go to school, and their are brave soldiers dying in iraq. when i am on the battle field seconds from death, then i have the right to consider my faith under threat, until then, I am just in training playing in the play pen, god has so much better for me.

Pretty much. Except these people who claim to be "Christians" don't know much about the religion they say they follow, because I'm pretty sure the Bible says not to judge (in fact I'm 100% sure), and I think telling people they're going to Hell is a form of judgement. Furthermore, Christians are supposed to try and convince people as best they can about God, not just write them off and say they're going to Hell.

well not any Christians i know would say that we cannot judge another person we can only tell what is in the bible and if those steps are not followed then a person should pretty much know they are falling short and need to follow the path that God has put in the bible and do the things that are told to us by Jesus we have to pray for strength and guidance everyday and in the bible are many prayers and stories that will help us in our everyday life i have many that could help you if you want to email me

Definitely.

Hypocritical, bigoted and prejudiced Christians are the worst.

The true Christians learn to co-exist with different people who have different cultures, beliefs and traditions.

When I tell someone about God I dont tell them straight out "Your goin to hell." I tell them that Jesus loves them unconditionally and that he wants the person Im talking to to be with him in Heaven forever.
