you could have a thyriod problem, depression, Mono, or some other health problem. do see your doctor for a blood test! when I had mono i would just sit down and fall asleep. I didn't think I was tired at the time but looking back on it I was tired. And believe me if it's the beginning stages you're going to get a whole lot more tired and know you're tired!

possible causes:
---poor diet? too much sugar/caffeine (ruins your sleep cycles)..not enough veggies?
---depression? have you ever had a history of this? family history, maybe?
---are you currently taking medications that can cause hypersomnia/insomnia?
---are you physically sick? flu/cold/cough/infections, etc?
possible solutions:
---try taking some vitamin B complex.
---check your diet.
---try to get into an exercise regimen. even 20 mins a day of low level walking will do wonders for ya.
---try to get into a regular sleeping habit. ie, force yourself to get up the same time everyday, and go to bed the same time every night. no naps in between, either.
---try to get some sun everyday. maybe your room is too dark all the time if you're always inside? ie, before you go to bed at night, leave a window shade/blinds open so in the morning the sun will wake you.
---if none of these work i would suggest you going to see a physician. there could be an underlying cause and it'd be a good idea to get it checked out.
about ADHD causing insomnia...im not sure if hypersomnia is a symptom, but i've never heard of it being a symptom either. ADHD is when a person is so hyperactive that it's difficult to focus, complete tasks, etc.
good luck!

ADD has all kinds of diagnoses. The best thing for you to do is to see a doctor. It could be a form of depression. Or maybe your body is trying to tell you something. Get some Medical help first to combat all these sleeping problems.

Please remember that being tired or sleeping a lot doesn't always have to be a mental condition. There are many physical problems that can cause these symptoms and you should have tests run to see if there is a physical reason first. Hope you start to feel better soon.

Get a full physical. Could be thyroid problem, could be diabetes, could be any number of health problems. Could be depression.....which is a chemical imbalance and correctable.
First cut out all sugar and wheat flour. They zonk me right out. Maybe I have an allergy to them, but when I dropped them, my energy level zoomed. Also I started drinking a lot of just plain water instead of tea, coffee, sodas and juice. That helped too.

Hello there,
I have a friend that does the same thing. She went to the doctor and the fitted her with an oxygen machine to sleep with. She was givin some meds to regulate her sleep and she finds more active things to do. Talk to your doctor and they can help you out.
