...he's my friends older brother, he's 19 & I'm 17. I know that he's in a tottally different place in his life, just being 19. I know I'm way different than I was 2 years ago when I was 15.
But do you think anything could ever happen between us. I mean is it possible for him to like a girl my age (17) I'm a senior by the way, and he's NOT in college.
sometimes I think he might be flirting, the way he looks at me, or smiles/waves/talks to me
But I'm afraid I'm reading those wrong. How can I tell the difference between an "I like you" smile & an "I think your cool, and like my little sister, lets go watch sesame street!" smile.

First of all.. 19 and 17 is not that big of a deal, especially since you are graduating from high school this year. (But you may still be illegal depending on your state, so i don't know about all of that)
Anyways, on the assumption that you are legal, i would stop analyzing his every movement. It's usually not a good sign if you have to do any deep interpretation of a smile or a wave. If a guy is into you, period, he simply goes out of his way to give you attention. I honestly think it has nothing to do with you being 17, because it's definitely possible that a 19 year old could be into you. But just going off of what you have written, i think he likes you, but i don't think he "LIKES" you in that way. But it may be too soon to tell.. you never know, it could grow into more.

First, a 19 year old guy is not going to think of you as a little girl when you're 17. That you can count on.
He's not in college? That's bad news, education-wise. If he's not in college, his last experience was high-school so he's really not any better or worse than when he left, so he's just the same as you intellectually. What's different is that he's got a job (that is, if he has one) and is more likely to be really concentrating on treating himself to big-boy toys like; cars, girls & dating, video-games....etc.
How do you distinguish? Have you ever heard these lyrics to an oldies song, "how will I know if he loves me so? Is it in his smile? Oh no that's not the way, you're not listening to all I say, unless you wanna know if he loves you so, it's in his kiss..."
A smile means he's nice enough to make the muscles of his face move and make his mouth curve upwards...something extra needs to happen for you to really see that he's even remotely interested in you.
Like...asking you out.

A 19 year old guy is on about the some level as a 17 year old girl. It very possible that he would like you. First you must ask your friend if she ok with ya'll dating. Maybe she will know if he likes you. My brother is 2 years older than me and I always knew when he liked my friends. Also for some reason older guys like younger girls and its legal because you are 17.

well the i like u smile looks like flirting and boys usually do it like,i'm not saying this word but it's S**Y way and the i think ur cool is just a simple hi friend smile like when ur smiling at ur friends and the sesame street one that im not sure what ur talking about but it is possible that he likes u and plus its only 2 years!! some peoples get marry even if its like what 10 years apart!

Usually guys that like you often seem to be nicer than the norm...maybe by going out f thier way to do something for you..like... "so do you want a drink"... how's your day going?... act a little shy by not being a total dick in front of you...good luck.

Why don't you try asking him? That's pretty fool proof. If he does like you, then he'll probably have a pretty hard time lieing and saying other wise.
