I find that yams and sweet potatoes do not cause gas and they have plenty of fiber and lots of vitamins too. You also might find that eating fruits such as berries, avocados or apricots will not give you as much gas. Adding fiber gradually to your diet also helps. Besides taking Beano, taking flaxseed oil, and probiotics (such as acidolphilus,) will help to reduce gas or you can eat yogurt with your meals. Some people find that taking Citracel for constipation is helpful. There are also a number of herbal teas that work for occasional constipation. One such tea is called "Smooth Move." One of the best ways to prevent constipation is to exercise regularly.

All of those vegetables do not give everyone gas. If they give you gas then pick up a bottle of beano at the store to put on those veggies so you don't get gas from them. If you tend to be constipated you need to be sure to increase your water intake and try drinking prune juice or eating lots of prunes. Also you can get your vegetable intake by drinking V-8 juice.

I've no idea how to get that balance right. Maybe jelly made of fruit juice and gelatine is safe, it is easy to digest and nutritious. It might depend how the vegetables are prepared, they might be better if in soup form than whole.
