Some Pentecostal Christians do what is known as "taking up serpents," which, in short, is snake handling, with the belief that the poisonous snakes cannot harm them...due to what is said in the Gospels, namely that "They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover" (Mark 16:18).

The Pentecostals don't seem to understand that Jesus was speaking with his eleven apostles about what they would be able to do as a result of the gifts he had given to them in particular, after Jesus died, was resurrected, and reappeared to bring them word.
But, hey, some Pentecostals do the serpent-handling thing quite well. Others get bitten and die.

It says in the Bible that "they will not be harmed by serpents or any poison" but this is a Baptist Fundamentalist interpretation.

Snakes have their own religion. Snakes may not bite christians if it is not disturbed, but christians will not spare snakes. I dont know who is religious?????
