Yes , my kitten does the same thing. It's normal , cause they chase everything. They see something and they'll play with everything. Not to worry .

Hi there...yes cats perform this cute and silly antic too. It is so cute to watch them when they chase their tail for the sheer fun of entertainment especially when they are young. Older cats will do this too, but not as much.
Here's a poem I hope you will enjoy about a cats tale of tails.
I can't seem to figure out why my tail follows me around.
It is there when I eat, it is there when I drink. It is there when I play and it gets in the way.
When I am running and trying to climb the wall, I see it out of the corner of my eye. It is striped and looks like a snake. I stop dead in my tracks and turn, but it isn't there. When I turn in a circle, it is sometimes there.
Sometimes it curls over my head and touches my ears. I hate it when it does that. Some day maybe when I am older, I will catch it while it is spying on me. When I sleep it sleeps and when I rest it rests. I wonder if I am the only one this happens to. Maybe all kitties have a tail like mine. Maybe their tails chase them too. A lot of times when I am getting into mischief or doing things I shouldn't be doing, I think it tells on me, because it see's everything I do and it just sits there and watches. My favorite thing to do is climb on freshly folded laundry and instead of giving me balance, it makes mine worse because me and the laundry end up on the floor and then I have to run and hide.... to my surprise it follows me.
Yesterday I was running while playing and I saw it following me, when I looked back to see if it was there, I ran smack into my litter box and fell over. Jeesh, it is always causing trouble for me, but I guess I am somewhat attached to it.

I've got a cat that will do it too. It's also fun to induce tail chasing by going in circles on the floor with a laser pointer. ;)

one of my girlfriends cat is 15 and still chases her tail like she's never seen it before. its so friggin funny! she looks like she'd trying to turn into a hurricane and fly away. my dog used to chase his tail, but he'd kinda bite at it and then run in a circle motion. the cat looks like she's trying to pounce on it though!
so, yeah, i hope its normal. either that, or our cat is mental. lol.

Yes, it is normal. They just have great fun with it - kittens tend to do it more, although my old cats (10 and 11 year old ones still do it when they are bored). They have a way of enjoying themselves.

Ain't cats in order that interesting? i have were given 2 and a dogs, crew. even as Elvis, the older of both isn't taking large cattie have interesting with terrorising the dogs, he will cool right down to have absolutely one of his diverse cat-naps in something particularly than his own mattress. even if or not that is my handbag, any determining to purchase bag, container, dresser, cupboard or drawer. particularly a marvel to my significant different's apprehensive equipment, i visit allow you to comprehend, even as he places his hand contained in the drawer to get a pair of socks and receives a handful of cat at 5.30a.m.! And, as for chasing their tails, very interesting! round and round in circles till they get dizzy. you'll imagine that by technique of now the stupid buggers would have realised that this component they try to seize is hooked as a lot as their bum! i do not comprehend what type of flooring you've, yet we've a tiled corridor floor, so even as they go charging up it, first of all the paws are going at one hundred mile in line with hour, yet they don't have any grip, so are operating and getting nowhere, and then even as the momentum has outfitted up adequate to get going, they could't stop! that is not something unusual to hearken to them head-butting the front door! imagine your self fortunate that your cat in basic terms shreds up paper, my buddy has a cat that, given even the slightest chance, shreds her undies! He doesn't provide a hoot even if that is sparkling in her drawer, or contained in the showering basket. Drawer left open or lid off the basket, he's in there, rip, shred, bite, shred, till the wanted merchandise might want to be shredded no more effective! So, contained in the mild of that, you've were given a quite "typical" cat! savor! Christine O'
