I would give your midwife a quick call tday just to be on the safeside. I called my midwife all the time , I have had 3 pregnancies and had a few complications with all 3 the last one I developed gestational diabetes and very high blood pressure, do you have any other symptons like a headache swelling to your fingers or toes or are you seeing flashing lights ( I know this sound weird but if you have had it you will know what I mean ) along with the pain under your ribs any of these symptons can be a sign of pre eclampsia which if not diagnosed can be serious for both you and the baby
dont want to be a scare monger and I am not try to scare you, I am just trying to pass on some of the knowledge I have learned throughout 3 troublesome pregnancies although everyone had a very good outcome with 3 happy healthy babies athe end
1st was 6 lbs 2nd 8lb 11oz 3rd born 12 weeks ago 9lb 4oz
good luck and I'm positive that you and your baby are doing just fine...xxx....

Sounds like rib pain. You'll notice this from time to time from now on as your bump gets bigger. It has to do with your sitting posture.
If you sit with your back curved (slouched), or with your legs curled up under you, your ribs are squeezed together in front, and the nerves running between the ribs start to get pinched.
When the pressure starts coming off, they get sore. It feels like a bad stitch, and lasts for a few minutes. The more it happens, the longer the stitches will last, so it's important to avoid making it come on. It can get very nasty as the nerves get more irritated.
To avoid this, make sure that when you sit, you sit up 'off' your bump. The temptation is to rest your rib cage on the top of your bump, and that will set it off. There is a tendancy to do this more and more as the pregnancy goes on, and your bump gets bigger and bigger. Sit with your back supported and make sure your upper back is leaning back into the chair/couch.
Avoid sitting with your legs curled up under you - the ribs on the side your feet are on will get squashed and set off the pain again.
You can stretch the ribs and relieve the pain by sitting tall on the edge of a bed or couch, and leaning away from the pain, with your arm over your head, keeping your bottom firmly on the seat. That will spread the ribs and ease the pinching on the nerves that run between them.
Rib pain is one of the many 'minor' ailments of pregnancy - it's a nuisance, but not serious. Try not to worry.
Good luck with the rest of the pregnancy!

It was probably the baby moving to an awkward position like an arm or a foot in your ribs, i used to get that all the time during my pregnancy. I am only 5,2 and my baby girl was 9lbs 8oz and when she was born by c section of course! her foot was actually stuck in my ribs and 2 doctors had to pull her out. lol!
Just a thought!
Good luck!

Most likely it is just gas, but be sure to ask the midwife anything you are curious about. Good luck with the pregnancy.

Seeing as it didn't last long, I wouldn't worry.
You'll probably get lots of aches and pains now as your muscles and ligaments move and stretch, and as little one gets bigger and squashes your insides and wriggles about, so yes, possibly wind.
Mention it to the midwife to be on the safe side.

When you are pregnant you get all kinds of weird sensations. As long as the pain doesn't persist, there are no contractions, and no bleeding I wouldn't worry about it. Just mention it to your midwife when you go.
Good luck and congratulations!

when i was pregnant, i stood up one time and felt a burning tearing in my side. i quickly called my OB told her it felt like i tore a ligament or something. she said that is very normal because there is a lot of stretching and pulling and weight...etc. it's a scary feeling, but probably not a big deal. there's no harm in calling a professional for your own peace of mind.

most times this is called round ligament pain. you have several ligaments the support the uterus. as the uterus grows, these ligaments stretch and will cause pain. usually goes away or sometimes will have burning type pain for longer periods. if pain continues or associated with bleeding, see doc immediately.
