You've asked two questions -
What do ppl think about open relationships?
~ As with any relationship, it is what you make of it - An open relationship, with two consenting adults, who have their boundaries in place, are open and honest with each other - can work as well as an 'non open relationship'.
To me, open relationship, not so much means that 'we're going to be married to each other, but openly sleep around' .. It means more that we are Open to the possibility of new experiences.
"The major fear in an open relationship is abandonment. If you allow other people to have sexual access to your partner you worry that they might steal him or her from you. One thing that you don't initially allow for either is the element of competition. You can worry that your partner is getting the far better end of the deal going off every night with someone new while you're stuck at home with a Pot Noodle because you're less attractive. The amount of communication necessary to overcome these problems is greater than in a normal relationship and can be draining."
As to the second question -
What does it say about a guy who wants an open relationship?
What does it say about a girl who wants an open relationship?
Or the guy/girl who wants a same sex relationship?
Or the guy/girl who wants an interracial relationship?
~ It says to me, instead of - what does it say about the guy .. Is what fear / pain did it bring to the surface?

Depends alot on the person and maturity level. Open how? Dating is usually an open relationship. Sometimes there are other types of open relationships, but usually its hard to have everything open. That's a very relative question. Depends alot on what the reasons are for wanting it. Does always mean the person is bad, maybe he's just trying to be honest with you about what he wants. You should listen to what he says and decide if you can handle it or not, don't pretend like you can if you can't, you'll just end up hurt.

To me personally? It says that he's not mature enough to handle a committed, adult relationship ... and it makes me wonder what kind of STDs he's going to get. Maybe that's all judgemental and whatever, but that's what comes to mind. I do NOT support open relationships, for the same reason I don't support the "friends with benefits" concept ... someone always, always gets hurt. Not worth it.
Best Regards,
Holly

Depends on what your looking for? If you are looking for a committment then he is defintely not the guy, and usually open relationships just result in one person leaving for another since there are no real strict boundaries in an open relationship.

it seems that he is not that serious about you after all. it's like, he is holding on to you while exploring other possible options. and if supposing he likes that other option, where do you think you will end up? and because it is an open relationship, the boundaries set are looser- how would you feel if he makes out with other people? can you tolerate that?

that he won't be faithfull and love only me . that he will never be happy with any one female . that he gets his cheap thrill's by cheating .
would you want you girl to screw around with someone else and maybe give you something you could die from . when the only thing she would be guilty of is loving someone .
he needs to learn what he wants and whom he wants in life .

It says that he will never commit, so if you're looking for a life partner, he is a waste of your time.
