Think of it this way: You're in a restaurant, and when it comes time to pay the bill, you don't have enough money to cover the tab. So a friend pays the bill on your behalf. That's what Jesus did for us.
God the Father demands that we be perfect. Because our lack of perfection--sin--means that we can't meet His demand, we need someone else to "pay the bill" for us. Jesus perfectly satisfied the Father's commandments and offered Himself at Passover as the perfect sacrifice that the Israelites had been waiting for so that their sins could be forgiven once for all time. Jesus thus becomes our mediator (1 Timothy 2:5)--our middleman, if you will--between us and God. But since Jesus is the only person to perfectly satisfy the Father, Jesus is the only one through whom we can get to heaven. It's a big deal because being with God for eternity is what He intended all along, and since Jesus is the only way that the Father has provided for our salvation, Jesus is the only one who can help us. The alternative is to be held accountable for the sin debt we cannot pay on our own, and since God cannot allow sin into His presence, since He never intended for us NOT to seek a relationship with Him, the only other option is for us to go to hell. He doesn't send us there; we send ourselves there by giving God no other choice.

The thing that makes the Jesus story so appealing is the teaching of LOVE. Not only love the family or the friend or the one who gives to one, anyone can do that. But to LOVE THE ENEMY and FORGIVE, and to love the neighbour (the stranger) as oneself and to love them first....that is the spirit or the essence of Christ and the Messianic tradition. FORGIVENESS for ALL by ALL.
The myth of the God-ness of Jesus as part of the Trinity was just added by Constantine, a Roman Emperor, in the 2nd Century. Jesus then became part of the Trinity (Three persons in ONE GOD) as (God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the HOLY GHOST. (notice, two males, no women, and one "ghost").
For those who love the Jesus teachings, the LOVE and FORGIVENESS is what is special about Christ and it is why the story has survived regardless of the Catholic and Christian Church's multitude of myths and stories about Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ and later a part of GOD as a member of the TRINITY.
The message of LOVE THE ENEMY and love the neighbour as yourself is what is great about Christianity. It unites the family and has been a support for many "victims" and afflicted accross millenia.
True Christ-hood and Jesus-ness is the lesson of the poor helped by the poor and the meek. The Church is seen as the wealthy and the powerful and is not what Christ is about and it is not the structure that historically helped the weak and the disenfranchised but it is the individual "do gooders" inside the Church who worked as Jesus, the Christ regardless of the corrupt structure and the oppressive "power hungry" and murderous leaders of the pyramidal Roman Catholic Church.
If it wasn't for the Christian Churches, there would be many more Christians.

In addition to being 100% God, Jesus was 100% human. He felt the pain as you or I if we were crucified. All the punishment for ALL the sins of mankind was laid upon Him on the cross. I can't imagine the amount of pain He endured. He did all for you and me even though He was sinless. This is why it is a big deal. Perhaps if you were to watch "The Passion of the Christ" it would help you try to identify with the enormity of the sacrifice.

You try bearing the sins of the world ontop of being brutally beaten and hung on a cross then going to Hell for three days. Its pretty dang significant. Its like the worst pain youve everfelt, both mental and physical, multiplied by 7 trillion which coincidentally also is the national debt. its a big freaking deal!

You ask a very good question. Here is why it is such a big deal to me: God, being the almighty, need not ever become anything less than God. (If you were God and had it all, would you become anything less?) But we humans have all been infected with Satan's disease, sin. That disease brings about all kinds of imperfections on our bodies such as decay, fatigue, mental limitations, physical and mental suffering and moral erosion that sin produces. These things are extremely disgusting to a perfect and holy God. But because of His compassion and love for us, he willfully emptied Himself of all His glory and became as we are in order to rescue us and bring us back into a holy fellowship with Him in heaven. It would be like you tossing aside the joy of being a human in order to become a disgusting maggot in a pile of dung. So when someone loves you like that it's a pretty big deal to me. He left all the riches of heaven to save my soul from hell. I think the point is that He was willing to become something so much less than He was to show His love for us. And He took on all our sin upon Himself. None of us knows what that was like. I personally have been practically crushed under the weight and guilt of my own sin...but He took on the sins of the whole world!!! And to me, that's a VERY BIG DEAL! I'm glad you're asking such good questions. I hope you will be drawn nearer to the Lord as you search for your answers. Good luck!

He had to suffer just like anyother human on this planet. The fact that God didn't even have to do this for us. He could just say ohh after this everyone will die and will be nothing more.

Jesus paid a debt He didn't owe, we owed a debt we couldn't pay
The big deal is Heaven or Hell. God is a just God and can not over look sin.

Well Taren, I can tell you. If God had not given His son, you would be going to hell for all of eternity. But since Jesus did die on the cross for your sins...you have the opportunity to confess your sin, and accept Him as your savior and escape eternal torment.
Notice the word I used; "opportunity"....the next move is yours.

The Bible teaches that as long as human nature is as it is, we're going to have wars and rumors of wars till the end of time. We've got the idea that we can have peace, permanent peace, even though human nature is what it is, without God it can't be done.
We have the finest cival rights laws in the world, but they haven't solved the race problem as any black man will tell you. Why? Because our heart has to be changed, as our attitudes.
Suffering is part of our lives. Most people at one time or another experience physical illness. Hunger is frequently endured by a large percent of the world's population. Poverty is widespread. Still others suffer at the hands of people, either in difficult marriages, or with an abusive partners, or oppressive masters. As a result of our greed and corruption, the political climate in some countries produces much bloodshed.
An epidemic of huge proportions is upon today's society. The curse of alcohol, drugs, and immorality have left many people adrift, without an anchor, headed for eternal destruction. People are readily influenced by their peers as well as by the media, magazines, newspapers, and television. Millions of people around the world suffer daily. The mind is assailed to the point where it is a whirlpool of confusion and frustration, resulting in spiritual and physical deterioration. Why?
Suffering came into the world in the beginning because of sin. It is a continual reminder of man's sinful condition. ( Genesis 3:16-19). Pain, trouble, and sorrow became an everyday part of man's existence, because of his disobedience. Since sin is in the world.
But the cross is God's answer to sin. To all who receive the blessed news of salvation through Christ, it crosses out -cancels forever -sin's power.
Forest rangers know the value of the " burn-back " in fighting forest fires. To save an area from uncontrolled fire, they carefully burn away the trees and shrubs to create a safety barrier. When the forest fire reaches that burned-out spot, plants, and animals standing inside that area protected by the burn-back are safe from the flames. Fire is thus fought by fire.
Calvary was a colossal fighting of fire by fire. Christ, taking on Himself all of our sins, allowed the fire of sin's judgement to fall on Him. The area around the cross has become a place of refuge for all who would escape the judgement of sin.
God adhors sin and it was because of that, that He sent His only Son to die for us. When I consider my crosses, tribulations, and temptations, I shame myself almost to death, thinking what are they in comparison to the suffering of Christ Jesus.
The cross of Jesus Christ was the culmination of the one life that held more suffering than any other in human history. He was the suffering of the entire world. And God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us ( 2 Corin. 5:21). Since the day of crucifixion, the cross has been the supreme symbol of salvation from sin.
God says there is no hope for the world aside from the cross. We look to the leadership of men, the progress of scientific discovery, or the spread of knowledge and think human beings can find a solution to our problems. But our hopr rests not in a system, or government, or philosophy, but in the cross of Christ. Anyone who has ever gone through surgery and looked up to see the bag of blood dripping slowly into his veins, realizes with gratitude the life-giving property of blood.
The message of the blood, the cross, and the work of redemption is still foolishness to those who are perishing ( 1 Corin. 1:18), but to those who are being saved, it is the power of God.
And that is a very MOVING story!!

During his preaching, Jesus had never called himself as God or Son-God. Now, look upon those people who consider Jesus as God or Son-God. They are, baselessly, blaming even those people who were present at the spot and knew that Jesus was not God or son-god. In other words, the people with the belief that Jesus is God or Son-god; are far more enemies of Jesus who tried to crucify him.
•The people who say that Jesus is God or Son-God or in his guise, the Lord descended upon earth because of God’s love for humanity. They are, baselessly, blaming Jesus and the Lord of Jesus, the both.
According to Jesus, God, the Holy One; is the Saviour of the Whole mankind. God is capable (be God glorified as God is) to relive off every infliction. None of the human beings is saviour beside God. Jesus, himself is also, not a saviour at all. The people who have chosen him as their saviour__ they have denied the Holy One___ who alone is the saviour of Jesus and whole mankind and the act of choosing Jesus as saviour__ is equal to hate the Holy One___ as it is clearly written in the old Testament:-
“I am the Lord your God. Worship no God but Me. Do not make for yourself images of anything in heavens or on earth or in the water under the earth. Do not bow down to any idol or worship it. Because I am the Lord your God and I tolerate no rivals. I bring punishment on those who hate me, on their descendants, down to third and fourth generation.”
(Exodus 20:1-5)
Now, ponder over the point that whosoever says that Jesus is God___ Holy Spirit is God___ Mary is God; has he not made an idol beside the One God? While nothing is there in the earth and heavens which could be considered in terms of the One God.
Beware please! A father is a father__ a mother is a mother___ and a son is a son__ and they all are the creatures of God. They cannot be considered as God___ as god is their Creator__ and nothing is like the Lord.
Creatures of God are God’s Creatures they can never be considered as God or as the parts of God. Same is the case of Jesus who is a creature and, as such, can not be considered as God or a part of the Creator or the son of Creator.
•Jesus is not a Saviour. He is not capable, even, to save himself from his enemies. How he can be considered “All-Able” to save everyone on the earth. It is the Lord alone__ Who is the All-Able to save every creature of the universe including the mankind__ as the Lord is already saving__ each of them__ without any desolation and defect.
Jesus was born after Adam, Noah, Abraham, Ismael, Isaac, Jacob, David, Solomon, Moses and the numerous other Prophets (peace & blessings of God be upon all of them). If he were the Son-God, then, all of the foregoing Prophets, must have been the believers of Trinity. But the case is not like that at all. None of them was the believer of Trinity, rather, none of them, had, even, heard about the name of Trinity, in their times. Hence, Trinity is nothing else but an invented and artificial concept which has no existence, even, during the time of Jesus. It is, therefore, a rootless concept from all accounts.
Prior to Jesus, the Lord had created Eve, without mother__ and Adam, without mother and father, the both. Afterwards, the Lord created Jesus without father. So the creation of Jesus, without father, is the third instance of the Lord’s all-encompassing creativity___ which is free from all the channels or systems of the birth. Instead, all the channels or systems of the birth are subservient to the all-encompassing and unique creativity of the Lord.
The Lord is, therefore, Holy and the Lord must be believed in, as Holy. To ascribe a son unto the Lord__ is a direct assault on the Lord’s Holiness__ which is an unpardonable crime.
since Adam to Noah__ Noah to Abraham__ Abraham to David, David to Moses__ Moses to Jesus and Jesus to Muhammad (peace & blessings of God be upon all of them) all the Prophets were slaves or servants of the Lord. And, in their servant-n-master or slave-n-lord based relationship__ all of them had__ all the qualities of servants & slaves definitely. That is why that all of them stood as servants & slaves of the Lord__ throughout their lives__ and obeyed their Lord in the most positive terms.
In the lines:-
“Honour the Lord, you descendants of Jacob!
Worship the Lord, you people of Israel!”
Jesus is advising the descendants of Jacob and the people of Israel to honour and worship the Holy One. The same thing has been advised in Quran after Torah by the Almighty God to whole mankind. It means that God of Moses, Jesus and Muhammad (peace and blessings of God be upon each of them) is One, the Holy One. Who alone, is to be honoured and worshipped ___ by the people of Jesus__ by the people__ of Muhammad__ and by the whole mankind.
Like Jesus, Mary and Moses every Prophet and every righteous person has praised__ honoured__ and worshipped the Lord, alone. So, the followers of all the Scriptures, should naturally praise__ honour__and worship the Lord alone as that__ and only that__ is the true faith and all of us should keep our Lord alone as our saviour with us here and hereafter.
Torah, Psalms, Gospel and Quran, all the Scriptures are saying that God is One, the Holy One. So whosoever does not believe in One God, he is definitely denying all the Scriptures. Such a person can not be considered as a believer at all.
No Prophet or a righteous-man has ever dared to say that he, himself, should be honoured like God or worshipped like God. Satan, of course, had certainly said to Jesus to worship him in place of God but Jesus had responded in the following way:-
“Go away Satan! The Scripture says: Worship the Lord you God and serve only the Lord.”
(Matthew 4:10)
In the same way, Jesus has responded in his prayer on the cross while uttering the following lines of the Verse No.23:-
“Praise the Lord, you servants of the Lord!
Honour the Lord, you descendants of Jacob!
Worship the Lord, you people of Israel!”
No doubt, it is a matter of simple common-sense that when God is One__ the Lord is One__ the saviour is one__ the Holy and Only One__ then, how his slaves or servants__ can be held as worthy of the honour & service__ which is meant for the Holy One alone. But alas! The people are honouring and serving the slaves and servants__ just like the Lord. Rather, they have chosen them as God & the Lord__ in place of the Holy One. And__ Christians are the pioneers of such ideas. They have straightaway declared Jesus as God & Lord and the Saviour. Rather, they hold Jesus as the sole sovereign of the Day of Judgement, instead of the Lord, the Almighty God, the Holy One.
