For smaller sizes- cartons. For the gallon, though, get the plastic bottles that light can't pass through. The twist off top is better than the flip-off top. And always check towards the back when buying milk, they usually rotate, so the older stock is in the front.

The best container for dry milk powder is a large glass bottle
with a plastic ring glass cap. It's good for keeping the milk
fresh and unpleasant odours out.
It's best kept inside the top hung cupboard in the kitchen.

As far as I'm concerned, a glass bottle with a cap that doesn't allow any odors through. Unpasteurized raw milk always comes in a glass bottle.
