The one who would suffer the most mental torment would be the Gay christian that believes being homosexual is a terrible sin.
My friend is one of these. Hopefully one day he will become an atheist, and realise christianity is nothing but lies.

He suffers More because he's not sure if he's gay or a christian.

Gays without religion do not face any of such problems because they have accepted who they are and aware you cannot serve two masters.....

as any other sin fornication, whore-mongers, gossiping, stealing, lying that an immortally act towards God; however; God prefer you to be cold or hot but not lukewarm. So if ones knows where he/she stands with God and select not to serve God in his/her lifestyle is more likely to enter the gate of heaven because he/she is not hypocrites in God's eyesight than the one openly serving God and privately sinning......

The Bible talk about who not going to inherit the kingdom and if you read on lukewarm people is on the list as well, so keep Jesus commandment Love one another and inherit the promise...

You can't be a Christian and gay at the same time,"gay christian"does not exist.God made male and female and told them to be fruitful so there is a problem from the start.A gay person can repent and be a Christian though ,of coarse then he wouldn't be gay any longer. So gay people are without religion already.Romans 1:24-32

Sadly someone who is truly gay (born that way) will indeed have great difficulty with Christianity. Christianity being based on Judaism, and both religions ancient in their teachings will condemn being gay because homosexuality in the Christian Bible and Jewish Torah as viewed by their readers is a condition of depravity. I don't think those who have chosen to take Bible teachings literally will be convinced by science that being gay is a genetic thing and not a choice. Fortunately the believers are not as fanatical as the atheist's would have you believe or they would be out stoning sinners, (see story of "Woman at the well") to death.. kinda like the beheading thing in Islam..

a gay christian probably suffers more because he is a christian, provided that he believes that being gay is a terrible sin. of course, based on my experience, it is not something that they can help, if it is a sin and they believe so and they suffer from it both internally and through society, do you really think they wanted to be that way?

gays without a religion that says that homosexuality is a sin, probably suffers because he is gay and it's hard for people around him to accept his lifestyle and sometimes he may be shunned.

it should be our duty as human beings, be it christian of faith or not to keep an open mind and not hurt people's feelings. it really isn't our place to judge, if you believe in god, it's his place.

does a starving child in America suffer more than a starving child in Africa? We all have a cross to bear. I don't know what I am, but I do know that there is no fulfillment on this Earth when it comes to perfect relationships. Someone always changes or leaves. Someone always dies. Nothing is constant, least of all the human heart.

I don't think that there has been a time in history where there has been so much stress in and on relationships. Whatever you are in, whatever you are struggling with, it is more difficult than ever before, and my heart goes out to everyone who battles these inner demons. Just keep going to that fountain of mercy, that's all I can say.

Depends a lot on where you live. If you live in Iran and your caught being gay,,, they'll whip you a couple of hundred times before they hang you. I think that christians pretty much deserve the little bit of ribbing that they take from atheists... hardly persecution. BTW, I don't know what the Iranians would do to atheists.. could be the same as for gays for all I know.
Y'see the muslims believe in a bronze-age god the same as you christians.. but happily this is not a theocracy... yet.

If a gay suffers probablems because they are gay, why don't they change?

If a christian suffers problems because they are a christian, why don't the change?

The question implies there's something wrong with being both gay and christian.

Obviously if you got problems you need to consider becoming a hetero muslim or hermaphro atheist.

a certain sin can be problematic but you can get the victory over that stronghold ... and that's done by totally surrendering to God (turning from sin) and allowing him to work in their life.... being a Christian is 24/7....
A person who is indulging in sexual sin will often find themselves trapped by that sin.... as the bible states sex is done with the whole body and that's why it is difficult for a person to walk away from sexual sin.... you don't make war without weapons - so we shouldn't think we can gain the victory over sin without God's armaments.

There is no such thing as a gay Christian.
Read Romans 1:24-32 Paul says that God gave them over to a reprobate mind.
