Where do you get your ideas from?
Sure - there may be some pastors who make high salaries, but they're very few and far between.
The average pastor makes below average income and easily works 50-60 hours per week, or more. Where I live, the rule is that pastors are considered self-employed, so the church does not pay the employer's share of Social Security & Medicare. While you and I only pay 7.65% of our pay for these taxes, pastors pay 15.3%.
Then there's the work they do. Visting the sick, counseling people in trouble, dealing with everyone's problems, and always having to have an upbeat and positive attitude because (God forbid) should they ever show they are human and act negatively, they'll be scrutinized and called a hypocrite.
Let me see - long hours, lower than normal pay, higher than normal taxes, and working conditions you and I can't imagine. Yeah - they're getting rich off everyone alright.
I'm also curious about your premise - what makes you think that because someone is "doing God's work," they should get paid sub-par?

it is sad yes that most pastors are in it for the money! however that is why you search for a man or women of god that u can see thier true heart. my pastor has went bankrupt for the church. and has also pastored for years without a paycheck. we put our own money on the table. but it wont always be that way. true men and women of god are out there u have to search for them.
