Sin has corrupted human nature including our feelings. Our love to God is hardly pure nor true. Most of the times we love Him because we want Him to do something for our interests. We love Him also because of fear getting punished. Those 2 wrong reasons most of us have or once have.

No. To know him is to love him.

People who don't know him can convince themselves that they love him, but they are loving their own construct, not Christ himself. Some of the reasons people do this is because they want to feel on a par with God; they fancy themselves to be above salvation or believe that they don't need to be saved; or they are courting the great deceiver through the dark arts, which has everything to do with increasing their own personal power and nothing to do with humility.

But it is impossible to truly know Christ and not to love him.

I would argue that Satan doesn't know him. Satan is acquainted with him, and believes he exists, but he utterly misunderstands who God is, which is why he hates him.

that's a tricky one. You could definately use the gifts He may give you for the wrong reasons - that's why in the bible it talks about lawlessness and grieving the Holy Spirit. But, if you truly love Him, I'm not sure how you could "love Him for the wrong reasons".

Peter might be good too. I bet he's real good. Or maybe you could just love Jesus because you pray that he will make you rich and powerful. That would be real good too.

Yeah, you could love Jesus and ask him to make you a rich, powerful, gay man.
