They aren't - except that the old myths aren't as commonly believed any more because the Christians slaughtered or converted the believers.

The difference in prior ages was that the teachings of the major religions uplifted civilization to new heights, whereas, Greek mythology did little (if any) to improve civilization.
That was PRIOR ages. Today religion can no longer be said to be a myth. The scripture of the most recent worldwide religion, the Baha'i Faith, has a revelation written by the Pen of the Most Glorious, Himself. It is housed on Mt. Carmel in Haifa, Israel. It has been (and continues to be) translated into most of the earth's languages.

on paper, nothing. In practice everything.
Our basic society was made on the morality and ethics of Abramatic Religions. Without them we would still be living in a society that if you murdered a poor person as long as you more than paid for his economic value to his family you were off the hook, but if you killed someones livestock and could not pay you were put to death. Such were the laws in the Middle East and the rest of the world IE Hammurabi.
I seriously doubt that any person alive today would like to go back to that.

Well, myth is something that hasn't been proven. Even scientists and archeologists have admitted that the bible has truth in it. They've found scientific proof that certian events happened.
That would mean that you can't really call Christianity a myth. Greek mythology though, has never been proven to have ever existed. At least not scientifically.

What makes myth different from fact, you mean?
Mythological religions are man's search to explain his world...and in some efforts to explain his world, man has dreamed up gods and goddesses, as well as other mythological concepts.
True religion is God reaching out to man and offering the explanation of all things.
Some major world religions--such as Hinduism--are mythological. Some--such as Judaism--have part of the truth. One--Christianity--explains everything in full, straight from God's own mouth.
