What would you do if you met a girl, went on a date with her, and then she told you she got divorced a few months ago and the husband was abusive? She seemed very well put together, strong, has put it in the past, and looked at the good things in life. Would it freak you out?

Ok so I see it would freak some of us out ...lol
It wouldn't freak me out .... what does FREAK me out is why women stay in abusive relationships ... good on you for standing up for yourself and getting out before you suffered some serious injury or worse

No, you should be supportive of her. It's very strong to get out of a relationship as horrible as that so quickly and strongly. I know you care about her and even though she seems strong there may be some issues she needs to get through. Unfortunately, we don't have control over past issues as such but as you said it's in the past. Like her for who she is now.

Why would it freak me out to find that she has an abusive husband? I might be afraid that her ex would come after us but if she's got a good personality...she's well worth the risk!

It wouldn't freak me out. I'd just treat her like any other girl except that I would go out of my way to prove to her that I'm not abusive.

Not at all, the past is gone, nothing can be done about it now except accept it and looks towards the future.

Pretty heavy for a first date....maybe a little further down the road, if several dates were to follow.

It would not freak me out. I would show her what she had been missing all of those years and show her how sweet I can be. Show her how special she is and how much I care for her and how lucky she is to have me.

Take care.

It would freak me out. I wouldn't discredit the woman, but I would move slower than normal.

Her past is her past. If she lives for the present then I would leave it at that. If she keeps reliving the past then it becomes a problem.
