I finished accutane a few months ago, and my face is pretty clear. However, it is still blotchy, red and has an uneven skinton. What sort of over-the-counter topical stuff is available for me to even out the skin tone and just make my skin look better?

By the way, I'm a 16 year old male.

Go to Origins store (in most major malls) and buy Dr. Weil's Plantidote:

Two little pumps twice a day is enough and it lasts a long time.

A long time ago I had a boyfriend who used accutane. He had a really bad problem. His skin cleared up too but like you said, it remained blotchy and red. Back then (the 80's) they didn't have the stuff they have now. There are some cover-ups out there that are very light weight and have a high sunscreen in them so they provide both : The light cover-up you need and sunscreen for your very sensitive skin. Many of them are water proof and don't come off when rubbed so no-one will know you have them on. I used to help my little brother cover up his too. He didn't have them real bad. Not bad enough to go to a doctor, but close. Have your mom try asking anyplace that does make-up (sears maybe) and ask for a cover-up called "matrix" waterproof. A little goes a long ways. Good luck.

The reason your skin is blotchy is because your accutane irratated your skin. Everybody has different skin types, so need different types of treatment. I recommend you stop taking accutane or don't use it in the future. Since you have sensitive skin, be carful of the type of product you take. You could make your condition worse.

After going on Acutane myself it took some time for my skin to become more even toned. It just cleared up bit by bit, maybe a year or so in total.
