i'm half-japanese, half-american, and i have to balance japanese school homework, tutor homework, and school homework every single day.... top that off with extracurricular activities like piano, tennis, swimming, art class.... i'm being pulled under.
especially on mondays (today) its the hardest.... only because teachers tend to give a lot of homework on monday (well, my teachers), i have japanese school from 4:30-8:00, and when i get home i'm so exhausted I can't even THINK of doing anything, but i have to because i dont wanna be faced with an avalanche tomorrow.
is it just my school? is it just me?
and there's one more thing..
my school doesnt have the dunfs to provide lockers for us, so we need to carry our backpacks, also know as portable lockers, on our backs for the whole entire day... and i've been getting back pains lately, since we need to carry around four binders, six notebooks, and three textbooks.
i'm practically dying under all the stress and strain of school.HELP

Wow...I was all set to say something like, "Shut up, kid, it can't be THAT bad,", but it really DOES sound as if you have an exceptionally heavy workload.

Having to carry everything with you at all hours is the nasty cherry on the whipped cream.

You have my genuine respect, and my best wishes; I hope someone decides to cut you a break...and soon! On the other hand, you *could* be going to school in Georgia (where I currently live), which I believe is rated 49 out of 50 in the quality of public education (Mississippi is the "winner"). These kids get virtually no homework, and their textbooks are so basic, it's almost past believing. Imagine "graduating" from a high school like that!

Good luck, dear. You'll have a superior education, assuming your blood pressure doesn't put you in the hospital!

It sounds to me like you need a sleep, you need a day that you can just come home and sit on the couch and do nothing but read a book or watch TV. I get stress pains in my shoulder blades- and that's usually the cure, spending a few hours lounging around
The homework is probably about the same, but it's all your extracurriculars. I'd say maybe slow some of them down, set aside a day that you are home by dinner so you at least have that ONE day to look forward to with limited activities.
See if you can take piano every other week or something- even if you're spending the same amount of time at home practicing at least you're at HOME, and not running around from place to place. Also, it isn't a bad idea to *once in a while* talk to teachers if you're having a bad week. I've found a lot of them will give you a few more days if you're not too pushy

Well to begin with go buy one of those roller packs all the rage these days because your right you shouldn't be carrying all that weight around on your back. Now as for homework I'm sorry but I don't think it is all that much compared to what other countries have their children doing these days tough it up and get it out. Everybody feels like you do at your age school is easy it isn't suppose to be OK definitely hard work but in the end it is worth it an education is the one thing nobody can ever take away from you once you have it.

No. If teachers didn't give homework, students would get to college and be totally unprepared for the workload there. It sounds like maybe you have too many extracurriculars. I think that's where most kids get overwhelmed. They're in sports and music lessons and ballet and karate and every other thing that comes along. And I see so many parents pushing more and more on their children. It's crazy. I have my kids choose ONE activity at a time. That's it.

I have a lot of homework, I usually have 4-5 hours of homework a night, not including studying. It's a lot of work ontop of school work all day. It tires me out so bad. My bookbag is very heavy, too! Yet, I talk to all these other people in my classes and they aren't stressed because they don't do homework. I totally agree that we have too much homework.

HOLY COW now you see the picture or your living it! Yes there is much to much homework. It's ironic that studies are showing todays kids are fatter then ever! By the time a child gets home from school does the homework has supper it's time for bed! There is little time left to run in the yard and play!

Yes! SOME teachers do give too much homework, but honestly, it sounds like you have simply taken on too many things! You are stretching yourself in too many areas, and I'm not surprised that you are exhausted!

The true secret to managing homework is not in how many hours you spend on it,..... but rather.... how EFFECTIVELY you work!...... have you ever learned HOW to learn? Most students don't know how! Neither do most adults, and even teachers! Check out oxfordlearning.com for info.

As for the book & binder problem,. ... get a small suitcase on wheels! My daughter was having migraines that were traced to back and neck problems - chiropractic and accupuncture treatments - plus the rolling mini-suitcase - solved the problem and "cured" her migraines.

You only get one back - take good care of it!

you need to find a minute if you can and sit down with your parents and let them know how you feel , they are pushing to much on you, and you wont get it all because you are tired and overloaded, if they dont understand, have them go with you from the morning to the night , sit with you and do the same home work ect, they will see what they are doing to you , i don't think it's the homework , it that you have sports, two schools, ect , you have no time for you and friends, and sleep,

My child is in 3rd grade in America and his teacher doesn't give enough homework in my opionion. It only takes him 10 minutes to do his homework each night. It's very easy homework for him to do. I actually give him extra sometimes.

Yes. Teachers must assign too much homework, because classrooms are so disruptive that they don't have time to teach it all in class. Sorry. Maybe you shold drop a couple of your extracurriculars.
