I was born in the early 50's, lived through peace & love in the 60's, women's lib in the 70's, etc. I'm single, independent, make my own money, am fairly handy with cars & tools but deep inside I really like it when a male is a gentleman and opens doors. It makes me feel special, if only for a moment, and protected. I'm not single entirely by choice. Just haven't found the right one. Manners are a VERY important issue. Nice guys finish first! I think most females would agree.

YOU are a sweetheart for doing that. Please do NOT stop. If us ladies are a little surprised, that's ok........we are surprised that a man has done this :)
If I were you, I'd be a little happy when a woman seems surprised because you can think of yourself as a man who is bringing the "gentleman" back from teh dead one woman at a time :)
Some women feel uncomfortable aobut this gesture becuase they feel they can get the door "them DAMN selves" lol. While they of course are RIGHT........you can GREATEN you gentelmanlyness by realizing that they feel like this because men have historically (and presently I presum) think a woman needs thier care to survive.
So, UNDERSTAND and KEEP OPENING DOORS and you will be one of the MOST perfect men EVER.

It's because we have all been behind a man that actually let's the door close on you as your pushing a basket with one hand and holding your child with the other...It is nice of you to do it, and we appreciate it more when men do this because of how rude and inconsiderate society has actually become. Keep up the good work and pass this one down to your son in the future!!

You must be one of the last of a dying breed.
Nowadays, guys rarely open the doors, I guess that is because of the times that we live in - equality of the sexes and all that.
You just keep on being a gentleman. We appreciate it very much.

Well its quite a huge role! That's one of the major things I look for! One guy I like right now is a bookworm and he has a lot of manners and that's one reason why I like him. So it's a pretty big role there so mind ur manners!

That's very Knight in shining armor of you to do that. Yes, manners do play a role in our presence especially for various occassions from table manners to all sorts of things. Being rough or slobbish is a real turn off. Keep up the good manners I say! ;) Thanks!

I think you were just raised right. That's a gentleman's way.
I wish there were more men out there that did that, but it's usually just to check out the particularly pretty girl at that moment that's going through the door.
