No guys who do that make me want to barf - especially when I'm pregnant! Like guys tend to be so immature anyway - my self esteem has more unchangeable roots. Good thing too - since beauty fades and charm is deceitful. Of course, my hubby would be an exception - I don't mind him doing that. He's a really encouraging guy but I don't base my self esteem on his perceptions. When I was a teenager and young adult - not married - and without an alternate source of self esteem - I did base my self esteem on that and felt really good about myself when guys would notice me.

Better question might be "what is the most important basis of your self esteem?" Anyway, sure it's important. If a guy was to "check me out" and say something negative, I would feel bad. Perhaps not for long, but no one wants negative remarks or gestures, that hurts. But does an obvious check boost the self esteem....yes, for sure. If a guy takes the time to check you out he's likin' what he's seein' !!

No, I don't base my self esteem on it, but it is nice to be reminded that I'm still appealing. Especially on an average day when I don't feel like dressing up or putting on make-up.
Mine is boosted ~ When my significant other says, "wow hon, you look great." It's those times I feel like a million bucks :)

I don't "base my self esteem" on it but I do like it when a man seems to appreciate me in a dignified but somewhat obvious manner. I think everyone likes to be "noticed" as they say.

there are a lot of men and women who do, in fact there are some women who are so insecure and get sooo jealous that another woman is getting some attention that they actually harass and stalk them. even on this board there is a lot of that going on, they obviously are immature and vindictive so what they do is go to all the questions you post and report everyone of them as a violation just to 'get back' at someone. of course it doesn't matter that none of them were in violation its just their immature and silly way of making themselves feel important. some women can be so cheap and nasty...be careful of those kinds. you actually have one that responded here so be careful listen to all her advice and for god's sake agree with everything she says or she will report you ! personally, i am not that catty, my self esteem is not directly related to how many guys 'check me out'. i work out, take care of myself for me...

Sadly yes!
I'm one of those who feels better about myself the more times I get hit on, especially when I'm not at my best. Like at the gym.
It makes a woman feel attractive and beautiful when other men notice.

Some ladies do. Maybe not all their self-esteem but a portion of it. I know some men do too.
