The term "intervention services" is used in offshore oilfield maintainence.
"
-Well intervention services: cementing, directional drilling, drilling and completion fluids, fishing and milling, tubing/casing running, well services etc."

More commonly it seems to refer to help for special needs people.

What is Early Intervention?
Early intervention is a term that often is used to describe specific agencies, programs, services, and resources. In North Carolina, early intervention refers to the system of services provided by many different agencies and programs for children birth to five and their families. This comprehensive, interagency system is called Together We Grow. There are two parts of Together We Grow - the Infant-Toddler Program for children birth to three and the Preschool Program for children ages three to five. The North Carolina Interagency Coordinating Council is an advisory group to both programs, and focuses on the birth to five age range.

The early intervention system of services is provided under federal law, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Part C of the IDEA provides the federal mandate for services for young children with special needs, aged birth to three years. Part B of the IDEA provides the federal mandate for students with special needs, aged 3-21 years.

In either case the "theory" is to address a potential problem before it becomes untreatable.

in education: it means not waiting to teach some skill, but getting in there early and preparing the child before attending school. Usually one feels that the child is delayed or it could mean the parents want an early start on school skills!
Preschool or kindergarten assumes the child knows things like their name, basic colors, counting etc. If the child was three and a half and didn't seem to learn things very fast, I would look into intervention as necessary as he/she will be behind when they start school. Everyone is pushing to get this stuff in early because so many kids fall behind and never catch up. By 1st grade the testing begins! "Leave no child behind!"

Well to me it depends on the type of early intervention that your talking about, If your talking about preg. early intervention than YES! I would say my theory on that would be that it's a very good idea. But I'd have to have more information on what kind of early intervention your talking about. Also I would say talk to your/or a councilor about what kind of early intervention services are good and which are'nt....
