Approach it with sincerity and determination. :-) Buddhist daily living revolves around the practice and cultivation of: virtues/moral conduct, meditation, wisdom.

-The Buddhist Handbook by John Snelling
-What the Buddha Taught by Walpola Rahula
(are two of many introductory books available)

It would be beneficial if you investigate as much as you can so that you can see for yourself if this is something you would like to commit to. Part of this might be visiting temples or monasteries to speak with teachers and asking questions about what you have read about.

Some things to look further into:
-Four Noble Truths (this include the Noble Eightfold Path)
-Taking Refuge
-Listings of Sanghas (community of monastics and lay practicioners): http://www.buddhanet.net/worlddir.htm

Be well and may you have an enriching journey whether you apply Buddhist teachings or not. :-)

LOL, yes wake up for sure! Buy or check out a book from the library. I like Buddhism Plain and Simple by Steve Hagen, because it spells it out for you. It's important to understand the way of life before you just convert.

you cannot convert to Buddhism ,for it is not a religion ,
Buddhism is a tradition that focuses on personal spiritual development. Buddhists strive for a deep insight into the true nature of life and do not worship gods or deities.
of course, you may do what you want in life .........
if you so wish you can check on Buddhism in the internet )

I apologize for the small mindedness of some of these people answering your question... but in reality there are no official rites of passage or anything to becoming a bhuddist. If you want to .. you can say from this moment on that you are.. which is one of the reasons bhuddism is so liberating. It allows you complete choice of your own life through self analyzation and awareness. One of the big basics is meditation... google bhuddism for a neverending list of inspiring websites. . .

Just take a deep breath, you don't have to really do anything. It's mostly the thought that counts. Love everyone. Care. Be honest. Be true to your morals. Buddhism is just a tool to help you reach there:)
