of course the more you buy with any beer the cheaper it will be.
Samuel Adams only comes in bottles.
typical range is:
$5.99 to $7.99 - 6 pack
$10.99 to $13.99 - 12 pack
$21.99 to $27.99 - case
Samuel Adams doesn't come in a traditional case. it's usually 4 six packs or 2 twelve packs.

24 pack around here is almost 20 bucks. 6 pack is no higher than 8 bucks.

A friend of mine works in a Brewery, the answer to this question lies in the fact the packaging machines "drop" the beer into the cases 4 bottles wide. Our ancient packaging machines are separate from our box making machines (today they are commonly one unit). The packaging machine "drops" 4 dozen bottles at a time, in either two 24 cases, four 12 packs, or 2 trays of four 6 packs. The box making machines require configuring to accomodate a change from say dozen to 24 cases, the packaging machine does not, which saves time on changeovers from one product to another. The new combination box making/packaging machines can easily accomodate different number of bottles or cans into numerous configurations for promotions or what have you, the four across packaging is merely an industry standard that is a reminant of a time when simplicity increased productivity!
