You can gain weight quickly unless you have some abnormalities.
The best way to gain weight in a healthy way is through little changes. A pound is 3500 calories, so you just want to add calories.
For example, drink whole milk. Every morning with breakfast, have a large protein shake made with whole milk. Have another one after you work out (don't do aerobics, but do lift weights).
You could also go to a health food store and look for special meal bars for athletes. Some of these are very high in calories (my boyfriend in high school was a wrestler and their coach recommended them to gain weight. I forget what they're called though.) but still have a lot of nutrition in them.

5lbs in a week really won't be a problem...if all you're looking at is a number on the scale.
however if you are looking to put on 5lbs of lean muscle in a week then you're not going to be able to do it even if you take steroids.
Your best bet would be to get on a nutritional program like 'Advanced Nutrition" by Dr. John Berardi. He cousels elite level athletes on nutrition to enable them to compete at peak performance.
Unfortunately building muscle mass even with the aid of steroids is not as easy as it sounds. Invest some time in researching a quality lifting program along with sound nutrition and you'll get the results you want, however it will take time and effort

I had been dieting for a while and doing quite well so on a 5 day trip to scotland I thought I'd go crazy and eat all the things I'd been missing, I went for huge steaks, maccy d's and as i was in scotland i thought id try some local culture in a battered haggis (very tasty) when i went back to my slimming club 5 days later i thought i had probably gained like 3lb but to my shock i had gaine 8lb's - took me 2 weeks to lose it again. so the answer is yes :)
