we started getting these boils under our arms 9 months ago and have been on numerous antibiotics and the re-appear. I got it first under my right arm and my daughter got it under her left. She got some ointment that she had to put around the inside of her nose and some antibiotics. This is really getting depressing as it is hard to look for work and do normal houshold duties. If someone knows anything that works please help.

you need to go to your doctor and have a culture and sensitivity done on the "boil" they will have squeeze some stuff out of it for the culture. and if it growing anything then they will know exactly what meds to put you on. another thing DO NOT share any personal hygiene stuff like deodorant, bath sponges, etc these things just carry bacteria. hope this help. good luck

Since you both went to the doc and got antibiotics for this, they obviously are not concerned with it being MRSA (although the media talks about it a lot, outside of a hospital, nursing home, etc., it is very rare.) Lots of women get boils under the arm that keep coming back since that area is prone to chaffing from bras rubbing there, razor burn and cuts, issues with deodorant, etc. Hormones can also play a part in it. See a different doctor and try a different antibiotic. Some women even have to stay on a longer (could be 21 days or more) cycle of antibiotics to knock this out. Boils are caused by staph infections, but MRSA is rarely the culprit. In the mean time wash yours and your daughters clothing in the hottest water possible with bleach for the whites. Also, stop using deodorant or powder or anything under the arm until this clears up.

has the Dr check you up for Diabetes? If you are clear from this then you are just one of those unlucky one who will get infection on and off. have a friend who has this too. but it sort of dissapeared after she has her kid. Like a hormonal imbalance thing. Try taking multivits to build up yr immune system and maintained super clean hygiene to those areas.
