my cousin held a girl, his mother and aunt hostage and stabbed the girl a couple of times and then took her to a hotel room where she finally got help when he left. she had a punctured lung but was out of the hospital within a few days. aunt had called the cops and when they showed up at the house his mother said nothing was going on, so my cousins trial was supposed to have been today but he went ahead a took a plea bargain of 45 yrs. isn't that a little much for that, i have heard of murderers getting out in less time, he will be elgible for parole in 23 yrs. this is his 2nd offense on this but this one was a little more severe, he served out his full sentence on the other one, they only gave him 2 years.

my question is this, y did they go to the extreme of 45 yrs for this?
and they are charging my aunt (his mother) with the same charges because she tried to protect him and didn't get that girl help so will she be looking at around the same sentence or will they go easier on her

Perhaps they gave a harsher sentence because society is tired of vilent criminals "finding God" and being good little doobies and getting released only to re-offend. and it is about time. Sorry if it sounds harsh because he is your family, but i have seen too much of this kind of thing. Good for the judge.

It sounds as though your cousin committed multiple felonies in this case. Kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment, aggravated assault, assault with a deadly weapon, attempted murder. It sounds based upon his decision that he may have gotten a life sentence without parole and that the 45 year plea bargain was more than fair. Your cousin is dangerous and needs to be off the streets, sorry.

they'll try to make her be an accesory to the fact. or aiding and abbedding a criminal. her attorney will. as for him he made it clear that he did not learn his lesson the first time, and they will do what they can to keep him off the streets. there is a 3 strike law in some places he better not do it again. in most prison terms they give 2-4 days for every 1 you serve (your aunt) your uncle may not. good luck

Ask the District Attorney who negotiated the plea deal. Also talk to your cousin's lawyer.
