Ok, he and I have been together for 7 months, and he will be going home a few days after his birthday day, he will be comming back in a few months, so what do I get him for his birthday to show him that I really care a lot about him?

You already now the answer, just think back to the time that you've spent together, I know it sounds corny, but I'm great at giving gifts, and that's what works for me, just remember the person,. Go, back, remember a place and time when you had fun, and you'll know what to get him
Also, when I get a gift, I always keep it, because the person that gave it to me took the time to pick it out, for that the gift is always special

upon his return, Lay some rose petals on the floor, leading towards the bedroom. On the bed, lie naked and put whipped cream on yourself, not too much, just enough to cover the bits, offer him some strawberries and champagne. set the whole place with candle lights and make out music.

Talk his language -- #1 need for most men is sexual fulfillment. 2nd most is recreational companionship.
If you can't do #1, then buy him tickets to a sporting event and go with him. Or, learn to play a video game with him. Or, play basketball (or other event) with him. Recreational Companionship is huge. --(taken from the book His Needs/Her Needs)

Or something that he need, but he haven't got it. Might not be a expensive one, but one with your blessing will do.
Or may be hand made gift from yourself. I think he will love it if it was done by you.

get him something like a cool picture of you guys going someplace or doing something neat! Get a nice card and hand-write your feelings in it--tell him just how special he is!
