I feel that as long as your clothing is modest, clean and fit well then it's fine to wear to church. God is far more concerned with what's in you than on you.

I wear jeans to service a lot but I never go looking sloppy (not saying that you do either though!).
I think the whole concept of "Sunday best" was born of a time when believers would wear their finest to the temple in a way of honoring God. It's more or less about respect. You wouldn't go to a job interview in sweats (well not normally lol)....
Many people were ashamed to come and worship, or to let Jesus even see them if they wore tattered clothes, but Jesus himself never dressed flashy.
You can dress nice without wearing a suit. Even baggy pants (read baggy not saggy!) can look nice when worn with the right shirt etc.

Some people focus a lot on appearances, but I don't think the Lord cares whether you wear a suit or jeans to church. For goodness sakes, if Adam and Eve hadn't sinned in the garden, we'd all still be running around naked! As long as you're not wearing anything offensive or suggestive-- forget what others say. God cares about your heart-- not your clothes.

Well, people dont make it seem that way, It is listed in the Bible. I forgot the scripture, but it is in the Book of Exodus. Females are to always have something on their heads such as a hat or a scarf. We can't wear pants either. Men cannot wear denim, and they cannot wear anything on their heads.
Dan 10:5 says: Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz:
He was a well dressed man. And if you go to the Sabbath, the lord's Holy day Saturday morning, you have to come dressed in your best.
Saturday is the 7th day of the week according to the original calenders, not Sunday.

It's just an old school thing, like there parents before, it's a respect of God and to God. Putting on your Sunday best !!. the clothes make the man,!! Saying such as these are an example of the mentality of the era, that all, and parents/relatives have good intentions in there hearts, and yes we do the best we can.
But there is nothing wrong with the way that you dress, God could care less. peace

because some people believe that you should wear your best clothes when worshiping the lord because you are at church honoring him.
i personally agree with you - i would rather have a sunday service chalk-full of people in jeans and baggy shirts than have only half the church show up in their sunday best. i dont think it matters what you wear, just as long as you are there, that's what counts in god's eyes.
see if there's a contemporary service you can go to - lots of times people who go to that service dress in plain jeans and t-shirts. shoot, my minister even has an eyebrow ring!

She could desire to gown up! mom's incredibly do know terrific. Now permit's in basic terms say, 12 years down the line you or your sister gets engaged and desires some lovable kinfolk photos for her wedding ceremony video...yet you open up the photograph albums, and there is going Cindy in some turn flops on a similar time as everybody else seems all prim and proper. Thanksgiving isn't a miles low-priced holiday, and your loved ones could desire to placed various artwork and attempt to furnish y'all a superb holiday, the finest element you're able to do for them is to take place, good dressed. If for no longer something in any respect, then for some kinfolk photos, then Cindy can substitute into some casual outfits. i'm from California, and in case you have been 13 years previous, and caught donning denims and a t-shirt on Thanksgiving, people might supply you and your mom some grimy seems and snide feedback. It gave the impression of you have been headed in direction of a farming community??? i might say while you're no longer religious or no longer likely to Church on Turkey Day, she would have the ability to gown extra casually, like some skinny denims, some superb apartments or sandals and a shirt, no longer A T-shirt!

You should always give the Lord your best. If your best is jeans then jeans it is. He knows your heart. It's just that some people get more dressed up to go out at night on the weekends then they do to see our Lord. I look at what everyone is always wearing when they meet like Queen Elizabeth or somebody like that and they are all wondering if they will look good enough but, there is never that level of respect for our dear Jesus. I feel sorry for him.

For most, I think it's an issue of respect. Wearing your "sunday best" is a way for people to show God that they honor and respect Him. I think that's what it is for most people... I mean, think about it this way: it's kind of like when you're going to a job interview or meeting your significant other's parents - you dress nicely because you want to look good to make a good impression and show them that you respect them enough to care about the way you present yourself to them... so why would you take less care in your appearance when entering the house of God? And I can see their point.
But personally, I feel that all people have a right to worship in their own way. You're certainly one step ahead of a lot of people who can't find the time or a reason to worship. If people persist in being judgemental then I agree with the others, change churches. You should be able to honor God where you feel comfortable and accepted, not scrutinized by those who pass judgement on you for your appearance.

It's considered a sign of respect for God that you dress up in uncomfortable clothes. But it could also be about how much you are capable of impressing God. After all, which is a grander gesture, showing up in a $30 suit and a nylon tie or showing up in a $300 suit and a silk tie?
Then again, God has seen all of us naked, so I'm not sure any of it's for God's benefit. You just have to decide how willing you are to put up with the abuse from your fellow worshippers.

I been trying to figure that one out for awhile now.. I dont think the Lord really cares what we wear to church. If you feel ok with wearing Jean and a T-shirt then that is what you should wear.
