My daughter suffered from constipation..a specialist told me that prunes, bran, and drinking plenty of water are the best remedy....it worked for her. Prune juice is no where near as good as prunes themselves....

Fresh vegetables like celery, cabbage, carrots, etc. They are full of fiber which is "flushed" quickly by the body...
Whole wheat, brown rice, and other whole grains can also contain dietary fiber that works quickly.
Certain juices, like prune juice are rumored to have a "regulating" effect.
I find that drinking a large, sweet beverage very quickly can cause a chain reaction in some cases. (sugared drinks are not supposed to be given to babies suffering diarrhea--they can make it worse...)

You won't see immediate results, but i recommend popcorn and things like that. They're high in fiber, which is going to make everything a little easier, and are healthy (most of the time) too! In the meantime, prune juice, if you can stand the taste, is very helpful.

Just about anything with fiber. The skin on potatoes is pure fiber and will make you "go" If you bake a potato, eat the skin. Other good sources of fiber are plums (the skin and the inside), wheat, carrots, celery, and green beans. Hope this helps you out.

Yes, you need quite a bit of fiber, also plenty of liquids to keep things soft.
Metamucil(TM) is a way to get fiber independently of the food you eat. I buy the Equate from Wal-mart, the same stuff, just cheaper. I need it on the Atkins Diet.

Anything with high fiber. Prunes are always a good way to go. They make them with hints of lemon and rasberry flavors for those who aren't crazy about prunes. You can also look into dark green veggies, like kale, mustard greens, etc. They are also high in fiber. Good luck.
