She is solid white with one black patch over her eye. I think she looks just like a pirate, thats why I'm thinking of naming her Grace O'malley, after the famous female pirate.I would probably call her Gracie for short. I like Gypsy too though........i just can't decide!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like Grace O'Malley. It's not something you hear every day. Not even something you read, I did a double take when I saw this.

From: http://home.fiac.net/marshaw/mhaille.htm "Her proper name in Irish was Gráinne Ní Mháille, 1530 -1603; Grania Uaile is the popular form and the polite English translation is Grace O'Malley.." I have no idea how her Irish names are pronounced, with the exception of Grania.

There's a good book on her called: "Grania - She King of the Irish Seas", by Morgan Llywelyn. Very well researched and well written. Grania never took a Female Title, she insisted that she receive all the same honors that a man would, and ruled as the King of Connnaught, but was not officially recognized as such in the records books of the period.

Oh, and instinct is one thing, but when there's a sign, like the black patch, go with it. Always. Especially with pirates. My instincts are that I wouldn't call her Gracie if you do choose GO'M, it's a proud name she'll wear, and in my opinion doesn't lend itself to the diminutive, on several levels.

;D

Damn, I forgot that they're a popular thing now. Sorry, I knew all this before that. My favorite pirates are S. Clay Wilson's, LOL! Something to be said for Douglass Fairbanks Jr. and Errol Flynn too, though, and lately, J Depp.

Grace O'Malley is an awesome name! It has so much character and is much more individual than Gypsy. You will be the only one in your neighborhood with a dog named Grace O'Malley, I'm sure.

Chihuahua's are traditionally named Hispanic names. WE have a male chihuahua named Paco. There is a pic of him in my 360 profile.

Of the two names you have presented I like gypsy!

We are getting Paco a girlfriend for Christmas and her name will be Cha Cha or Charo depending on what fits her best!

Gracie. Not Grace O'Malley, just Gracie.
Pick a name that will fit her personality AND looks, not just what you like.

i have a solid white chihuahua with black patches on her eyes. Grace O'Malley sounds perfect for your new puppy. and as she gets older, you will probably add different nicknames on the way.

Gypsy is really cute, I can see it being very fitting for a chihuahua. Good luck with making your decision.

Gypsy all the way. It flows off the toungue and is a beautiful name aurally, yet it also conjures up images of Spanish gypsies...mysterious caravans and beautiful women and plenty of wine and guitars.
