if you have to ask! ... the problem is not the dog ... you have not established your self as his leader. he should be looking to you for what to do and he is not. look for info in "how to become alpha in your pack" (even if you only have one dog... your dog will be happier with a strong (but loving) leader)

Again, teach the dog sit/stay. Any time the dog is near the door that is to be opened, the dog has to assume this position, enforced with a leash at the beginning.

Before the dog goes out for potty, for a walk, whatever, it has to SIT and wait for a command to go through the portal.

This training is imperative. Like was said before, it could be a situation of life or death for the dog. One quick dart into the road in front of a car...

Training, training, training. There are no shortcuts to training a dog. You have to train your dog to wait for your command. Have him/her on a leash and open the door. As you open the door, use a command like "Wait," or "Stay." When your dog tries to run out, pull him/her back and say your command again. When you are ready for him/her to go out, use a command, like "Okay," or "Go." Loosen the leash, and let your dog out the door. Use treats when s/he gets it right. Keep on doing this until your dog does it every time without the leash. Good Luck!!!

If you have the 3 things to give your dog, it will not want to run away. These are the 3 things:

1. Food, feeding the dog twice a day, not leaving the food out the whole day. If he does not eat the food within 15mins, take it away and do not give it back!
2. Playing. Get down on your knees and play- wrestling, with a ball, a toy, whatever, but play for at least 10 mins per day!
3. Socilization. Take your dog to off leash parks and spend time with him. Take him for walks and when you are home, make sure you have him inside, make sure he is always with you when he can.

You need to teach the dog the sit and stay command and make sure she stays when the door is open. If she continues to run out, she will probably and up getting killed by a car.

Training!!!!
Put a lead on the dog,,, teach it to sit when you open a door, and NEVER-EVER allow the dog to pass through a door before you do.
