Home Depot has announcements in spanish. There is spanish at the airport. I can deal with that, but get this: I went to make pancakes for the kids this morning and the instructions on the box of Bisquik WERE IN SPANISH!! California is now officially Northern Mexico!! I can't find an English radio station, they don't help me at Costco, and the day laborers flip me off when I don't stop!! I want to move to Vermont!! Thank you George Bush and Vicente Fox!

Pamela, you and the ACLU can go to hell. FYI, I have no problem with immigrants, as long as they do it LEGALLY! My dad and his family came here from Germany in 1954, twelve years after Hitler ruined their lives. Guess what? They got put on a waiting list, had to wait seven years, got a sponsor from a church, and finally came over at their own expense, you idiot. "Three kids and one suitcase," as my grandpa put it. He told the kids to go to school, LEARN ENGLISH, and work your asses off. Piss off and go to hell, Pamela, people like you are ruining this country.

Only people of a higher mental caliber learn English in the USA. USA and English are synonomous- everyone else are outsiders that belong where their hearts live!

I've had this dialogue and it is not winnable even though I consider it's. The Brits have bastardized the language even worse than the accents attributed geographically within the US. I'm designated I shouldn't have an accessory however to people who have one it appears like I do since I talk the language in a different way to them ... that is how it is not winnable. However, there are diatonic indicators (entire w/ keyword phrases) within the dictionary that are meant to outline the sound that's heard in pronunciation. Experts agree on what that sound is however few people are professionals. Supposedly, there is a situation in Ohio that speaks essentially the most correct pronunciation of the English language. One factor I realize for certain ... the men and women in England have particularly 'twisted' it.

Keep pushing for what you believe. Eventually our message will get through. Look how long we kept quite and let this happen. It will take time to repair the damage. Continue to complain to the merchants you deal with. The illegal immigrants use their dollar to make their point (won’t shop where the merchant’s won’t cater to them) so maybe we should try the same thing. Every time you call somewhere and are forced to push 1 for English, complain. Write your local politicians; we have to make this government award of the fact that we have had enough. It worked for the illegals; it should work for us legal, honest, tax-paying citizens and by all means don’t forget how important your vote is.

I know what you mean, I tolerated it for 8 years, working for a major producer of fresh meats. I worked as a electrician/ mechanic and I had to take to them, sometimes they would speak Spanish even though they new perfect English.

Not as long as the state and federal governments favor hiring people who speak other languages. We are enabling them not to speak English. How many language is the DMV got in their rules book? The State Welfare office is the worst...several languages.
The stopage should begin right there....

I think it is just the system, I go to ATM, must push in English to get any response.
The phone calls I make to whereever, I must deal with computer and push number for English.
It is funny, Spanish is always 1!!!!
The Vietnamese came over in the late 70 to 80's, and all could speak excellent English.
Maybe there is a lazy bunch invading our country!

Why should they? Your government is pampering illegals with everything that a US citizen should be entitled to. I say send ILLEGALS home.
ILLEGAL is ILLEGAL...
For those who want to speak up for illegals, why not take the side of reason and speak up for the immigrants who are following the rules and waiting for their chance and quit protecting ILLEGALS!
