I'd like to give little "goodie bags" for adults/kids to take as they leave my son's party. What should I give?

Well you can get little toys for the kids and for the adults give them candy or you should go to the store with some friends and ask them. Also if you have a party store where you live go there they have some good things.

Don't make it too big of an event because remember, no one remembers their 1st birthday and one year olds tend to get overstimulated easily. I would invite mostly family since you are all the ones who will remember this special day the most. Just keep it simple. Maybe you could take pictures of everyone throughout the party and when you send "Thank you" cards you could include a picture of that person w/your child.

I always do seasonal things ... my daughter b-day is in the summer so I give bubble buckets or floaties, I helped w/ my friends sons b-day last year his b-day is x-mas eve but the party was in early Dec, we gave real minature pine trees in a pot w/ a bag of decorations so they could go home & decorate it.

Okay -- I'm one of those "nutty" parents who doesn't want their child watching tv and I read a bazillion books to my kid (and the kid I babysit) each day, but a giftbag idea might be a book appropriate for the kid's age. Maybe it'll encourage parents to sit down and read it to their kid when they get home that evening. You could also throw in some candies......

ps - you can buy inexpensive books at walmart/target....

For my daughter's 1st bday I got brown paper lunch bags and my nieces drew elmo/sesame street faces on them, & wrote the kids' names on each. I put little toys, and candy in each bag.
