Have the doc monitor potassium level. If it is low, check the diet for the usual.. banannas, supplements.

Your mother is likely taking a diuretic. Some diuretics can lower potassium drastically - a side effect that affects some people. There are potassium- sparing duretics.

Low potassium can cause dizziness and lead to falls and fractures - so it is important to keep in line..

You should first have her potassium level checked. It's a simple blood test her primary care physician can order. Once her level has been determined then the doctor can let you know if she needs potassium. You can get potassium by eating bananas. Then, of course there are potassium supplements.

Ask her doctor about supplements. When you have a potassium deficiency there are not enough bananas in the world to bring it up. Call the doc.
