I like to come home from a night of fun and not have my clothes absolutely stink. I'm all for a smoking ban, but at the same time I think legally that it is not right. By all means on government property a smoking ban should in place, because the rights of non-smokers to be in a smoke free environment on public property is totally appropriate. On private property a business should be able to say what is acceptable and what is not as far as smoking. It is important for non-smokers that value smoke free environments to support establishments that voluntarily place a smoking ban, then it is the choice of the consumer to go to a smoking establishment or a smoke free one. On a personal note when I'm in a bar and someone is infringing on my space with their smoking, I make it a point to infringe on their space with some farting... it doesn't change anything, but the revenge feels good.

As I've learned by being around when smoking was permitted everywhere and then it going to "no smoking" anywhere, I can tell you---it is bad for everyone's health who has to breathe it. Babies get sick from it. People with asthma get sick and nearly die from it. There are other breathing diseases that it hinders. People don't like the smell and when they go home their clothes smell like smoke even though they do not smoke. So you see, it isn't about who is smoking, it is about people who have to breathe the smoke and don't want to. I don't mind people smoking, but when I go into a smoke-filled room, I can hardly breath and my eyes water badly. So I have the freedom to leave that place. It infringes on others rights to just assume you can smoke in front of them. At least people can go outside or to a designated smoking area and smoke in their own homes as it is not outlawed. You can't pee and poop in a public place, so now you can't smoke in a public place (except outside-where you still can't pee and poop):)

They shouldn"t ..smokers have rights to and they also own a pc. of this world we live in...If you ban smokers what comes next..skate boards, chewing gum, hot coffee, fat in foods, disfigured people (don't laugh there are public rest. that have special section for these kind of people so others won't have to look at them..ask the soldiers at Walter Reed Army Hospt. in DC) long hair, I know some of this is stupid but think what happens when you ban something? Other things follow to ban as well...so when does it infringe on you and your rights...I am not advocating smoking just banning the right...just my opinion thanks

coz it annoys non smokers and smoke from someone who is smoking is much harmful than smoking the stick itself...2ndary persons who inhales the smoke coming from smokers are more prone to sickness,as a chain smoking 17-year old citizen, smoking in very public places like the streets is so absurb..i mean ismoke so you could get the bad feeling inside after you eat or i just cant kick the habit and gotta have a stick but that doesnt mean i love doing it on public places, it's like telling everyone, hey im cool coz i smoke..that's just not it

I will tell you the number one reason why I think it should be. I work in a restaurant where there is no smoking all the time now but back in the day people would bring premie babies in that section and be lighting up all around them. i now they probably do it at home too but i think that is wrong, those little ones are struggling already to survive being born early and their "inconsiderate" parents just light up like its nothing.

some people are allergic to smoke. another reason its bad to breath second hand smoke by a non smoker because the non smoker dont have a filter and the smoker does. its respect for the non smokers health.

in most public places there are children and second hand smoke isn't good for them.then there are people that are on oxygen. if you don't smoke do you want to go somewhere and then when you leave you smell like an ash tray..

Because spouting any dangerous, toxic, and deadly poison into the air in a public place should be illegal.

i think smoking should be banned, because even with filtering systems, smoke floats around. it's also a bad influence on children - they are being told not to, but see it everywhere.

because 2nd hand smoke is unfiltered and worse than the smoke that the smoker inhales... and i chose not to smoke because of health reasons and i don't want someones decision to smoke to totally over rule what i prefer...
