You should check where is the Return on that house (mean where the system gets the air) in some Houses it is on the garage. If this is the case you should look for any chemical product like Ants poison or paint cans gas cans , Etc. Here in Florida many people doesn't know that the fresh air that enters the house comes from the Air handling unit that is usually located in the garage and it will suck in all those odor produced by all the chemicals the keep on it.

Yes
The AC gas contains CFCs that can be concentrated and can be harmful for people with respiratory problems
It can also cut down the supply of oxygen into the car and thus suffocate the persons inside to death

I really doubt it. Unless you are working in a freon plant and get trapped in a silo, it would be awful hard to die.
Can an air conditioner blow in air such as exhaust that will kill? Probably, and more likey how the story will go once storted out.

If freon is burnt it turns into phosgene gas, a nerve agent. They probably died from carbon monoxide poisoning.
